Add a message to the Windows lock screen

In Windows 10 (and should also work in Windows 7 and Windows 8 ) you can add a message to the lock screen .
This can be useful, especially on laptops, to write your name and address in case it is lost (a little unlikely but it can happen) or to write a message that other people who use the computer at home or in office, as a reminder, as a warning or to leave a nice joke.
This feature is however very hidden in Windows and cannot be changed through an option, but by changing a registry key.
To activate the personalized message in the Windows lock screen, you must therefore open the registry key editor by searching for the word regedit in the search field of the Start menu.
Once opened, from the folder tree on the left, expand the following path by pressing the arrows down:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Microsoft> Windows> Current Version> Policies> System .
Press on the System folder to see a series of values appear on the right side of the screen.
Look here for the value legalnoticecaption, press on it and write a title on the empty field, for example: " This is Claudio's computer ".
Then press on the value legalnoticetext and write in the empty field the content of the message which can be, for example: " if you find this computer, call the number 12345 ".
Restart the computer and, when the login screen appears, the one where the password must be entered, the message written with an OK button will appear.
To remove the message just repeat the above operations and delete the two messages inside the legalnoticecaption and legalnoticetext keys.
I remember that those who have Windows 10 can customize the lock screen directly from the customization options in Settings, change the background image and add information from other installed apps.
In another article, we saw how to change the logon background on Windows 7.
