Many public institutions and companies still use faxes to receive and send important documents. Despite the arrival of the PEC and the certified emails, nothing still replaces the good old fax, but having one costs very much, not to mention the need to have a dedicated analog line for this type of service.
If we have to receive urgent faxes, we can also abandon the analog line and rely on some services that can provide us with a number on which to receive faxes, which will be forwarded to our email in the form of a PDF.

The best service we can currently use is Tiscali Fax, completely disconnected from the other Tiscali services and therefore usable even if we do not have a subscription with this operator.
The peculiarity of this service is to offer the sending and receiving of faxes for free forever, just register to get a personal number where you can receive and, if necessary, send all the necessary faxes.
All received faxes will be forwarded as PDF in the email box indicated during registration.
The service also offers 10 MB of free space to save received and sent faxes, but currently it does not offer any type of app to be able to manage it from mobile (we will have to use the service from a web browser for mobile).

2) Messagenet Fax
Another service that we can use to receive faxes on the PC is Messagenet Fax, which offers a valid telephone number also abroad to receive and send faxes online.
Received faxes can be managed directly from the site or forwarded to an email address, so you can read them immediately wherever we are.
By activating the FreeFax profile we will be able to receive faxes for free for 90 days, then the service will continue to work for free only for sending (maximum 3 faxes per month).

Among the best online fax services that we can try, eFax definitely stands out, offering its users the possibility to send and receive faxes with a dedicated number, which can also be used abroad.
We can try all the services for free for 30 days, so as to test their goodness and evaluate whether to adopt it as the only solution to manage all personal faxes.
As with the other solutions, faxes can be read directly by the service or forwarded to an email address in the form of a PDF.
eFax can be used both from the site and through a dedicated app for Android and iOS, so as not to miss any faxes.

If we don't know which fax service to use to receive documents through this system, we can rely on Fax App, one of the best services in its category.

The faxes sent and received will be kept in the dedicated space and forwarded to the email box provided, so as to always receive a notification when the fax we have been waiting for has arrived.

5) Faxator
Among the paid services to receive faxes on PC or smartphone there is also Faxator, with a series of really convenient plans for both businesses and private citizens.
By choosing Faxator we can also receive faxes from abroad using a personal number, forward faxes to an e-mail box and send without limits starting from € 5 per month.
The service also offers a free account, but it is only enabled to send faxes not on reception (it offers, to be precise, the sending of 10 pages per month, but only to Italy).

At the moment the service is not available via the app for Android, but we can use it without problems from a web browser.
6) FaxReceive (App)
Among the services we tried to receive faxes, FaxReceive impressed us, available exclusively as an app for mobile devices but able to perform its task in a decidedly good way.
The app allows you to obtain a temporary fax number, on which to receive all the faxes we want.
Faxes can be read through the app or downloaded to the portable device in PDF format.
After a certain amount of time, the provisional telephone number will be canceled and it will no longer be possible to receive faxes; by paying a subscription, however, that number will become effective and we will always be able to receive faxes without having to rely on random numbers (always generated in the USA but operating everywhere).
