In just a few months the Facebook page Be like Bill has reached 650, 000 fans, mostly people who feel very impressed by his messages published in the form of Memes. The Italian " COME COME BILL " page has been copied in all languages and publishes a meme every day, that is, a cartoon with a small story about what an imaginary character called "Bill" does, designed as a stylized little man.
The stories all have the same style: Bill has one thing, Bill does or does not do a certain activity, Bill is Smart, Be like Bill and often concern the behavior to be followed on Facebook in particular and on the internet in general.
For example, one of the most classic Meme Bill is the one related to hoax sites:
Bill reads on Facebook that a Mercedes will be given to every immigrant,
Bill sees that the news was published by the site cosechenontidirannomai.nocensura.com,
Bill ignores the post,
Bill is smart,
Be like Bill .
The Be like Bill memes are like instructions for living and behaving well and have, almost always, the value of giving a good example to follow in order to avoid stupid or wrong behavior on Facebook and in real life.
At the same time, however, they also generated a certain type of controversy on the part of those who consider themselves judged in their freedom to do and publish what they want on Facebook.
If for many Bill is an intelligent character, with a lot of common sense, who never does annoying things towards others, for others instead Bill is arrogant, conceited, snobbish, narcissistic, too perfect and very boring.
It seems that the origins of the meme are to be found in the American Reddit forum where the meme above appeared in English a few months ago.
An Italian then had the brilliant idea, in December 2015, to create a Facebook page with many funny memes of the same genre, which had an extraordinary success.
My personal opinion is that the Be Come Bill cartoons are very well chosen and fun, especially those related to how to read Facebook and how to behave on the internet in order not to seem a loser.
I had previously written about Facebook's code of conduct and what not to do and publish and Meme Bill summaries are often shareable.
On the other hand, however, being always like Bill and always behaving in that theoretically flawless, but absolutely anonymous way, can be terribly boring and makes it almost useless to be on Facebook.
The important thing is to keep in mind that it is always about humor and satire, not to be taken seriously.
Anyone, to have fun, can create their own meme with the words and the message they want, using the little man drawing Bill.
