When you have to send an Email to a group of contacts, you must write, in the To: field, the Email addresses of the people one by one. If these are contacts added to the address book, most clients and e-mail programs allow you to write the name of the recipients and perform an auto-completion so as to make sending an email faster to a group.
However, if the contacts are 20, 30, 50 or more, writing and selecting the various names of the contacts becomes a rather long and difficult job since one must remember who the message is intended for.
I can imagine, for example, the problem of sending the message of Christmas greetings to many people.
To avoid the same problem for the New Year's greetings message and also on any other future occasion, including work, the address book can be organized into groups or contact lists .
The three most important and used Email services ( Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Outlook ) allow you to create contact lists .
With Gmail, you need to open the Google address book, select some contacts by placing the cross on the box next to it, press the " Labels " button at the top and select which groups they belong to or add them to a new one.
When you now write a new Email message, instead of writing all the names of the contacts one by one, just write the name of the group / label and Gmail, after recognizing it, will automatically put all the addresses of the contacts belonging to that group.

With Yahoo Mail the speech is the same: select the contacts and press the " add to lists " button.
The lists are listed on the left and are always editable.
When writing a new Email, just put the name of the list to send the email to all the contacts of that list.
In Outlook.com, press the left button at the top to access the People page, i.e. the address book of the Email box.
Then press on Contact lists to see the groups already present or press at the top on the key with the down arrow (next to add contact) to create a new list of contacts.
You can send an email to the Outlook contact group simply by clicking on the name of a contact list and then on the Send email link in the middle of the page.

Final note : when sending a message to several people, you must never write their addresses in the A: field but in the CCN field, also to avoid that the email can be used by spammers.
CCN means that the email addresses of the other recipients are hidden from a recipient of the email.
If you use a service like EmailDodo you have the double advantage of being able to allow each member of the group to reply to all the others, even without knowing their email addresses which will remain hidden.
