Play Star Trek with spaceships, fighting and space travel

Super nerds (as we are, proudly) from all over Italy have probably already downloaded and played Star Trek online, the game inspired by the popular series of films and TV series that now represent a cinematic cult.
Star Trek Online is a free-to-play MMORPG game set in the year 2409 where players can become Federation Lieutenants or Klingons and explore the unknown of space.
To understand each other, Star Trek, in terms of gameplay, is somewhat comparable to Battlestar Galactica Online, Dark Orbit and Pirates of the Burning Sea .
There are various missions to complete, both on the ground and in space, and each Kirk captain can control his Enterprise to discover new planets and engage in intergalactic battles.
In addition to the official Star Trek game, we also see an open source space simulation dedicated to the show: Vega Trek.
Star Trek online can be played for free by registering on the site and downloading the game client.
The game features missions to take on, fights and explorations.
Each player is captain of a spaceship and can increase his reputation by acquiring skills and experience points from fights and missions.
Star Trek, compared to other space war games, also features man-to-man combat when landing on a planet, thus ensuring some action.
For general movement the standard WASD keys and the mouse are used.
The game is not exactly intuitive in the controls and you have to get used to it and follow the instructions to guide the ship, shoot or accelerate.
As players progress through the game, they move on to space warfare and exploration (similar to Dark Orbit).
Official missions include PvP missions (player versus player) or solo missions.
Character creation is quite complex, with three classes to choose from: the tactical officer, the engineer and the scientist
Each has its own set of skills and attributes which can be improved by moving forward in the game.
Of course, the more the team is made up of experienced players, the more likely it is to win a battle which, however, requires some strategic reasoning.
The initial exercise is a bit long but necessary to learn combat, both in space and on the ground.
Ground combat has beautiful 3D graphics with a third person view and the probability of winning depends on the weapons available to the crew.
If the fights on the ground leave something to be desired, the space fights are very interesting, with three-dimensional graphics that plunges deep into the stellar space.
An enemy cruiser can therefore be found in war in front and another enemy from above can be seen
There are several categories of ships that can be customized by adding different weapons and pieces.
After a certain level new spaceships are unlocked and more and more options to play differently.
Being a game especially of exploration, it may not be suitable for those with little patience because there are game phases in which you only have to travel along the map of the galaxy and reach the planets which, in the long run, could be boring.
Overall Star Trek online is a nice game, not exceptional but still fun not only for fans of the saga.
Graphically he is well cared for and also the variety of worlds to be explored always make the interest and curiosity to go on high.
Unfortunately it is sometimes boring and a little repetitive even if this also depends on the type of game you intend to play.
However, it remains a game to try and play because it is free, with a good leveling between paying players and free accounts, a safe entertainment to spend sleepless nights.

If you don't like Stra Trek Online, you can instead download Vega Trek, a modified version of that Vega Strike that I talked about in the post best star wars games, with travel and space battles .
Vega Trek is 100% space exploration where you have to drive a starship (the Enterprise) and decide which missions and activities to carry out.
After downloading, the game starts by launching the vegastrike.exe file in the Bin folder.
Most of the time you sit in the captain's chair, in front of the dashboard and travel in space drawn completely in 3D.
With the + and - keys it accelerates and slows down, with the A the engine is started.
You can then land on various planets, being careful not to run into hostile forces with which you will have to fight.
Once you have selected your weapons, you can use the space bar to fire.
In the planets you can find missions to be taken to earn credits or experience points.
In this case the game is completely free and not multiplayer.
Sometimes it can be a little slow and, even here, it takes patience to reach the most distant destinations and to learn all the commands that are not really intuitive.
Vega Strike is definitely a game for fans of the Star Trek genre and space simulations.
