Send photos and videos on Whatsapp up to 100 MB in size

Sharing photos and videos is one of the main activities that can be done with Whatsapp, where you can share nice images or photos taken on the spot and also edited with the built-in tools of the camera. Although not everyone may have noticed, Whatsapp, in transferring photos from one smartphone to another, compresses their size automatically. This mechanism, which however does not greatly degrade the quality of the photo if viewed on the mobile phone screen, is used by Whatsapp to speed up transfers, to have less load on the servers and above all to avoid users from consuming too much data in the case of subscriptions to consumption.
Furthermore, in the case of sending videos, there is a limit in Whatsapp that allows you to send videos that are no larger than 16 MB .
With a simple trick, however, you can remove these limits and, therefore, send with Whatsapp photos at the highest quality and send videos even larger than 16 MB and longer .

The trick on Android and iPhone is to send photos and videos using the attachment icon in the chat, as a document, using the function that allows you to send files of all kinds with Whatsapp.
To send a photo with maximum quality or a longer video on Android smartphones you can then touch the paperclip icon instead of the normal one of the camera that is always used to send images and videos. From the menu that appears, then, you must not touch the Gallery button or the Camera button, but the Document button .
From the list that opens, tap on " Browse other documents " and then tap on the icon with three lines at the top left to find a choice menu. From here you can find all the images and videos stored on the phone. By selecting a photo or video in this way, the file is treated as if it were a document and is therefore not compressed. The maximum size allowed to send photos and videos as generic files or documents is 100 MB .
NOTE: on iPhone you cannot do the same thing. On the iPhone you can touch the + button to be able to send a document that must be chosen in the iCloud archive or in Google Drive (if the app is installed). The photos must first be saved in Google Drive in order to be sent from the iPhone in maximum quality.
The only drawback of this method is that whoever receives the photo or video will not be able to preview it in chat, but will have to touch to download the file if he wants to see it.
It is therefore a way of sending photos and videos in Whatsapp to be used only when necessary, when you want to share important photos or long videos.
Alternatively, you can compress the video on Android, so that it falls within the 100 MB limit.
