Lighter Windows and faster menus with one trick

One of the best things about Windows is that if it seems slow or malfunctions or even if there is something we don't like, you can always correct the problem, change and modify hidden options, settings and parameters.
We have seen, in other articles, many options to be modified to speed up Windows, each with more or less effectiveness depending on the type of computer used.
A trick to make Windows faster that certainly works in every PC, both old and new ones, both with Windows 7 and with Windows 10, both with a super processor and with poor hardware, is to change the speed of the animations of the menus, which by default are rather slow, although pleasant to look at.
Those who are not very interested in aesthetics and want things to appear sooner and faster, can therefore make this change that will really bring the turbo to every PC operation, also making the system lighter on the computer memory which, if limited (less than 4GB of RAM), it can really benefit from it.
The slight delay between when you click on a menu and when it appears on the screen can slow down the various operations a bit.
Windows allows, from its options, to disable a series of visual effects to make the computer more responsive.
As already seen, you can disable animated menu effects completely to get Windows lighter.
Deactivation is, however, a good measure for very slow and old computers, but drastic and sacrificing for others.
To really get a balanced configuration that makes Windows lighter and faster in opening the menus, without losing the animations, there is a parameter to modify in the registry keys.
NOTE : The registry editor is a powerful tool, but not really easy to use, the bad use of which can make the system unstable or even unusable. What is shown here is a simple trick that everyone can do on their PC if they follow the instructions without being mistaken.
READ FIRST, if you have never touched the Windows registry, the article guides "How to change registry keys (regedit) on Windows"
Open the Registry Editor by clicking on Start and writing " regedit ".
Press Enter to open the registry editor and give permission to make changes to your PC.
In the registry, use the left sidebar to get to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop
Next, select Desktop and then in the right pane, find the MenuShowDelay parameter, double click on it to open it and change the default value of 400 to 200 .
This means that the delay between when a menu is clicked and when it is displayed is 200 milliseconds instead of 400 ms.
Setting the value to zero completely deactivates the animations.
You can also experiment a little by trying different values until you find the one you like best, but the value 150/200 gives a good compromise in speed without losing the animation.
After the change, close and restart the computer to see the changes made by this trick and notice how Windows is lighter in memory use and with faster menus to open.
If you want to bring the value back to 400, just follow the same procedure.
