Import and manage other Email accounts in Gmail with multiple boxes

Most people have different email addresses and therefore different accounts, one main and others for other purposes.
For this reason, to check all email accounts together, it may be necessary to install a client program such as Microsoft Outlook to manage mail that arrives at different addresses.
However, if you do not want to use an Email program and if you want to manage different accounts, from a single location, you can comfortably use the Gmail website, importing the receipt of the mail so that the various emails that arrive in one or more are separated the other account .
Gmail can replace in all respects (for free) a program such as Outlook or Thunderbird thanks to its powerful features.
The advantage of using an Email service via the web is that mail is always available from any PC or mobile phone and you don't have to worry about making backups.
In addition, Gmail has an intelligent search function and with the browser extensions you can get even more powerful features.
In Gmail you can import other e-mail accounts, as if you were using a normal program.
For example, if you have a Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or Libero Mail address, you can open Google Mail, click on the gear icon at the top right and select the Settings menu.
In the Gmail settings, go to the Account and import tab and, under the item Check mail with POP3, click on Add your POP3 mail account
Enter your e-mail address and, in the next window, write your password and select the various boxes according to your preferences.
Now, with the import, emails received at that email address are automatically displayed in the Gmail inbox.
If, however, you wish to treat the imported account as a separate Email account, it is better to select the " Apply the label to incoming messages " option so that messages arriving at that address are marked differently from the others.
In this case, I also recommend archiving incoming messages (Ignore Inbox) .
Now, all mail is centralized in Gmail so all mail arrived, both at the primary and secondary addresses, can be received and managed via the web.
If the account was successfully imported, Gmail asks if you also want to send new emails using that account's address, also from Gmail.
The only thing to do is to confirm with a code sent to the corresponding e-mail address.
The same configuration can be done under the Send message options section as:.
Other more detailed instructions are in the guide Send Mail from Gmail with another email address.
To complete the step, you can also import email contacts to your address book in Gmail.
In this way, Gmail effectively becomes an online mail client (considering that Gmail also works offline).
The only problem that remains open is that Gmail imports messages received from other accounts only from the root folder.
If you have created several folders in the other email address, you need to move the messages to the mailbox of your old account.
If you want to visually separate the various emails that have arrived at the different accounts managed by Gmail, you can use a multiple Inbox function.
In Google Mail click on the wheel icon at the top right, enter Settings and then click on the Labs tab.
Look for the Multiple Inbox item, activate it and save your changes from the button at the bottom of the page.
Now, in the settings, a new entry appears called " Multiple Inbox Folders ".
Here you can configure how to display the different accounts in separate sections and panes, side by side.
The function of the multiple boxes also serves to separate the filtered emails with different parameters or with different labels (see how to create email filters).
This way you can simply use Gmail's powerful web interface by keeping your old email address and completely managing different email addresses.
The same thing is also possible by switching to Hotmail without changing your Email address.
I personally think Gmail is the best of the various email sites where you can create an email address.
