Resolve CD-ROM access error if it is impossible to read CDs and DVDs

A fairly common problem that occurs on Windows is related to accessing the cd-rom or dvd-rom reader in My Computer which prevents you from reading optical cd and dvd discs.
Practically, you insert a CD in the PC reader and it is not recognized, sometimes it is signaled empty and cannot be opened to explore its contents, other times instead the CD-ROM icon is missing and there is no way to read the disc.
A typical Windows message, in these cases, is one that says " Unable to access D: / Incorrect function ".
The error occurs above all for burned DVDs that cannot be opened and explored to start the files that are inside.
First of all, it is worth trying one of the Windows troubleshooting tools .
On a PC with Windows 7 or Windows 10, if you insert a blank cd or dvd into your computer, they are not visible by default and the cd-rom icon appears only if you insert a full disc.
Looking on the internet for solutions to this error (which will never mean "Incorrect function"!), There are different cases and for each there may be a different solution so before you get to grips with it you may need a tedious and long job. Windows is so beautiful but when incomprehensible and sudden errors happen it becomes a bloodbath to go and understand the reasons (but because it always says that it is impossible "> Rizone's CD-DVD Repair that tries to correct system errors related to missing CDs and DVDs or not recognized, on XP, Vista and Windows 7 .
This tool is really simple and essential because it is enough to press the start button to correct the errors and or it does it or not.
There are also two additional options that are needed, one to reset the disc's autorun settings and the other to protect the CD / DVD disc against autorun.inf viruses. Personally I would avoid enabling them unless you have the feeling of having caught a virus through that damned autorun. To verify the success of the operation you must restart your computer.
In general, other methods of solving this problem can be solved by downloading a new driver for the cd-rom / dvd-rom reader or by downloading and installing a new firmware . In this case, you must go to the CD manufacturer's website (whose brand can be seen with hardware control programs such as Siw), download the firmware and install it as if it were a normal program.
On Rizone there is also a link to the firmwareHQ.com site which contains a large database of firmware for the computer hardware.
To find out more about how to disable the autorun on USB sticks, CDs and DVDs, look at another page of this site. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that on Windows 7 and Windows 10 the autorun has been removed for removable media, USB sticks and external hard drives but not for CDs and DVDs.
