Manage Facebook applications: permissions and visibility

Despite recent improvements and a much tighter control, Facebook applications are still not as secure because they always ask for the right to access user information during installation.
Some applications, in addition to requesting basic information necessary to work properly, also ask for other things that are absolutely not necessary, such as, for example, the possibility of publishing news on the friends' bulletin board or your own Email address.
One problem Facebook has not yet fixed is that access rights to these applications cannot be selectively blocked during installation.
That is, you cannot choose to authorize some information and block other information, or you give full or no permissions.
Obviously nobody starts to syndicate, so there will be people who accept anything and others, like me, who avoid installing unknown applications.
However, it is possible to change the access rights of the applications after installing them from the application settings but hardly anyone remembers them.
Since, as seen in a past article, there are also applications on Facebook that steal private information, it is better to think of putting a brake on their intrusiveness.
Then go to account settings -> Applications, scroll the list and disable all unused ones.
By clicking on edit, you can also remove some publishing permissions and authorizations.
Update: every time you install an application, before pressing the Allow button to authorize access to the profile data, note where the sentence is written: The posts of this application are visible to and set who can see what is coming published by the application on your profile.
This is ideal for hiding app messages like games that post scores or news on your profile from others.
For all authorized and installed applications, in the account settings, click on the applications menu and decide the permissions for each one.
With a plugin for Firefox (which always remains the best browser to use Facebook, see also the Facebook cheat page), you can perform an automatic control of Facebook applications.
FB-Secure is a Firefox-only addon that isolates Facebook when visiting other sites and prevents Facebook applications from running.
With the container becomes, you can immediately block access to information during installation so that it will never be able, even for the first time, to access this data.

To better understand, let's take an example of a horoscope application: this definitely needs to know what a person's date of birth is, but it is not absolutely necessary that he knows the Email address.
With FB-Secure you will therefore be given access to the birthday but not to the E-mail address.
Any assigned permissions can then be changed from Facebook's general application settings.
FB-Secure improves the privacy of those people registered on Facebook who enjoy, even rightly, installing the most varied applications, without risking seeing their account compromised.
