How to send long and large videos

If you record a long video to share with friends and family or if you want to send a movie or episode from one computer to another, there are several ways to send that large file, but it is less immediate and easy than you can to think. The video files, in fact, whether they are films or recordings, can become very large, so much so as to overcome the limits of most applications and free sites. While sites like WeTransfer can certainly work well, that too has a certain limit and may not be enough.
In this article we are therefore going to see all the easiest ways to send large videos or even heavy files of different types .

Send long videos or large files via email

Sending a large file or video via email can be done, but only to a certain extent. Speaking of the main e-mail services, the limits for sending files are: Gmail 25 MB, Yahoo 25 MB, Outlook.com 34 MB. The other services have similar or probably lower limits.
You can definitely try to compress a long video or a file using the compressed folder (press on the file and then go to Send to: Compressed folder) or programs to compress videos, even if you will not get such a decisive decrease in most cases.
As seen in another article, some sites can be used to send large files via Email, such as the popular JumboMail.

Send long videos and large files with cloud services

Most cloud storage services allow you to upload large and heavy files with much wider limits than email. You can then upload the video or large file to your Cloud account and then get the link to send to those who want to download it to their computer.
If you use Gmail, it will be possible to send a file that exceeds the limits of 25 MB by uploading it directly to Google Drive. Google Drive has a sending limit for the single very large file, 15 GB. Of course, we must take into account that 15 GB is also the limit of the total space made available by Google Drive for a free account.
In addition to Google Drive, it is also possible to use different cloud services such as Dropbox (max 2 GB), OneDrive (max 5 GB), pCloud (which uploading a video allows you to view it in streaming without having to download it) and other free cloud services.

Send large files and videos via chat message apps

One way to quickly send large videos and files is by messaging apps. Speaking of the most used, we have seen how it is possible to send videos and files up to 100 Mega on Whatsapp thanks to a trick that goes beyond the 16 Mega limit for videos.
If you want to send a bigger video, you can use Skype which has a maximum transfer of 300 MB.
Telegram, which has a limit of 25 MB for sending videos and can also be used from a PC, however, allows you to send files as attachments in messages up to 1.5 GB which is a nice amount
Alternatively, we have seen in another article other apps to send large files from smartphones.

Share long and big videos via hosting

As for sending videos, we cannot forget that there are sites where you can upload them and then show them to anyone you want, publicly or even privately.
On Youtube, there are no length limits for a video and using the privacy settings it is possible to upload a video online without showing it to anyone. To do this, once logged in with your account, press the video recorder icon next to your profile picture to upload a video. You can then drag the video from a Windows folder onto the Youtube window and then wait for it to be uploaded online. On the next screen, after giving a title to the published video, you can scroll down to find the option that makes the video private. Once finished, in the list of uploaded videos you can open the video and then click the options button to share the video privately with someone, sending them the viewing link via email. The limit on the size of the video that can be uploaded to Youtube is very large, up to 128 GB in size or 12 hours in length.
YouTube is not the only free site that allows you to upload videos online and we have seen in another article the best sites to share videos in private .

Google Photos

Still using a Google account, you can send a video by uploading it online to Google Photos from the site or application. Each video published in your Google Photos space remains private until it is shared via links to send to people who may want to see it. As for videos, Google Photos is really very generous, with a maximum limit of 10 GB which allows you to upload any type of video mp4, .mpg, .avi, .mkv and other formats.

Other ways of sharing a large file

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, it is possible to use services such as WeTransfer, where the file is uploaded and then re-downloaded by the recipient of the link. As seen, there are also other WeTransfer alternative sites to transfer files of all sizes.
Other sites also allow you to send files without size limits in Peer to Peer (in practice using the same technology as Torrent downloads) which have the advantage, in addition to having no limits, also to download a file without having to wait for it is fully uploaded online. The only flaw is that whoever sends the file must keep the site open (and the computer on) until the download is completed by the other person.
