There are several ways to temporarily lock your computer when you walk away. However, it is more difficult to lock it automatically when you get up from your chair to go to the bathroom.
Locking the PC is fundamental especially for consultants and people who work in offices shared with other people.
The easiest and most immediate way to lock the PC, which everyone knows, is to press the Windows-L key combination to bring up the Windows login screen.
This way your computer cannot be unlocked if you don't know the login password.
Obviously you need to have created a password-protected Windows account.

To lock a Windows PC automatically without programs, just activate the screensaver (from the menu Control Panel> Screen> personalization), use the screensaver of the black screen and, at the same time, activate the option " On restore go back to the login screen ".
Note that in Windows 10 the screen turns off after 60 seconds on the lock screen.

To lock the Windows screen with password there are also other tools and programs, each aimed at locking the PC or certain parts of the computer or even to set an automatic lock after a certain time or based on certain circumstances.
1) If you want to lock only the mouse cursor without giving any possibility to move it, you can use the Mouselock program.
In reality Mouselock locks anything on the PC, starting the too portable in fact you just have to decide the password and then press the " lock " button to lock the computer.
In the advanced settings you can also decide whether to darken the screen and make it impossible to end the program from the task manager (not even pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del).
Really an effective and impossible to violate protection, which, moreover, records the saved passwords of those who try.
2) Smart PC Locker is an excellent NoVirusThanks program to lock your PC with passwords in different ways.
You can set a power-on lock, a lock on different parts of Windows such as the task manager or CD player, lock the PC automatically after a certain period of inactivity.
3) Screenblur is another program with advanced functions for locking your Windows computer.
The best part is that you can make sure that you configure Windows automatic lock after a certain period of time.

5) Quark is a funnier computer block that shows a Matrix movie-style screen when setting protection.
After extracting the quark.zip archive, you will see, in the folder, a file called QLoad.exe and another Quark.exe.
By starting Quark.exe you set up temporary protection without a password (just press enter to unlock).
By running the file QLoad.exe instead, you protect your PC with a password.
From the locked screen it is only possible to write the right password and nothing else can be done, not even terminate the program.
The only problem is that you can't set the password once and for all unless you configure a batch file from the command line (useless to know how when there are similar automatic programs).
Beware that this computer block emits robotic sound effects, which are nice but can become annoying.
6) Predator to lock and unlock the computer with a USB stick, automatically lock the computer using a USB stick as if it were the car key.
Practically, the PC can be used only if the USB key is inserted in the computer, otherwise it cannot be used and remains locked with the keyboard and mouse disabled and the screen darkened.
To reactivate the computer you must insert the USB stick and it automatically unlocks.
Predator also records all events in a log file so you can see if anyone tries to use and enter the PC without permission.
With Predator you can lock multiple computers with the same USB stick.
7) You can also lock your pc automatically using Bluetooth with a program like BtProx.
Like Predator, the computer can only be used if a bluetooth device (such as a mobile phone) is turned on and detected nearby, otherwise it will freeze.
8) With the Eusing Lock program you can lock your PC sequentially, as you would with an Android smartphone .
