Reduce data consumption in Chrome (on Android and iPhone)

When surfing the internet using the 3G or 4G data connection, in addition to having a higher battery consumption than the wifi, you must also be careful not to download too much data which is always limited to 1 or 2 GB in consumption plans.
The Chrome browser, both on iPhone and iPad and on Android smartphones, provides some options to reduce data consumption when browsing, especially with the data compression function.

On both Chrome for iOS and Android go to the settings by pressing the button at the top right and, in the Advanced section, press on " Reduce data usage " and then activate it, after reading the brief explanation, by moving the lever up.
In practice this function passes every website requested on the Google proxy which compresses it and returns it on the mobile browser.
The compressed site will therefore be less heavy to load with a saving of data to be processed that varies depending on how much the Google proxies have managed to compress it.
The proxy also works as a security check by blocking web pages that present malicious code.
For those concerned about the leakage of private information, it is clearly specified that compression is not done on the web pages in HTTPS, that is, those where personal data and passwords are sent.
Over time, going to see this option, you will find a summary chart to understand how much the consumption of data has actually decreased.
Another Chrome option for iPhone and Android that can reduce data consumption when using 3G or 4G connection is pre-loading web pages .
Google calls this function, which can also be activated on Chrome for PC, Forecast of network actions that searches for links on a page so that, if clicked, they are loaded more quickly.
Network forecasting can only be activated if the phone is connected to the internet via Wifi.
This option on Chrome for Android is in Settings -> Privacy while on iPhone there is still the option of preloading web pages in the advanced settings.
