There is no better and more exciting way than documentaries to learn about our past and the stories of the great characters who created the world in which we live. Those who are passionate about computer science, computers and the internet, cannot fail to know how the great companies that today dominate the technological world were born.

Before Jobs and before Bill Gates, PCs were built right here in Italy by Mr. Olivetti and his engineers.
Italy today could have had a company of the caliber of HP and IBM and Olivetti could have been at least as famous and celebrated as Steve Jobs if it were not that the short-sighted Italian politicians of those years, like those of now, discouraged and dismembered that company.

This exciting National Geographic documentary talks about how Google was born, how it evolved, how it became the most used search engine in the world, how Gmail was born, how its use is also dangerous for our privacy.
3) The true history of the internet
This documentary edited by Discovery Science and dubbed also in Italian, is a complete video document on how the internet was born and how it evolved.
The documentary, which dates back to 2010 (so Facebook is still making bets on Facebook) is divided into three parts and talks a bit about the whole history of the web, especially Google.
4) Steve Jobs story
Not only Apple fans but all technology enthusiasts should know the history of Jobs by heart, not only the founder of Apple but also an incredibly complex, ingenious character full of dark sides.
The documentary is Apple official, therefore very biased in the judgment, but certainly better than any film so far shot on Jobs.
5) Social Networks
This is a fairly dated documentary, but still very interesting to know a bit of history of Facebook and, above all, of its predecessors and its current competitors.
6) Anonymous
The documentary about the hacker group Anonymous is quite long, but at times very exciting and enlightening about the dark side of the internet
7) Story Steve Jobs and Bill Gates from "Correva L'anno"
This Rai Tre documentary is certainly among the best that can be found, in Italian, on the founders of Apple and Microsoft and how their stories intertwined.
8) Hackers revelations
This rather controversial National Geographic documentary shows hackers in action.
Even if I don't really believe everything that is said, it still remains extremely interesting.
Finally, I remember that in another article I had mentioned the 10 films that computer and technology lovers must see among which, in addition to the excellent and famous " The Social Network ", the lesser known film " I Pirates of Silicon Valley, "which tells the true story of how things went with Microsoft and Apple.
