Gaming keyboards are not all the same, so before buying one make sure to check the following features if you don't want to feel bad during a demanding game session.
1) Ergonomics: the keyboard must be comfortable and the keys well spaced, so as to avoid pressing one button for another during the game.
2) Response time: important for games that require pressing multiple keys simultaneously.
3) Additional keys : the keyboard that provides additional keys for the game offers an undoubted advantage, especially if they can be programmed with macros.
4) Software and Macros : many gaming keyboards offer the possibility of configuring additional keys via PC software, so you can press some key combinations or activate shortcuts in the game simply by pressing an additional key.
5) Backlight: a good gaming keyboard should also offer the backlight of the keys, so you can see them even in the dark. Many gaming professionals, however, hate this feature, so be sure to focus only on models with optional backlighting.
6) Wired or wireless : the best gaming keyboards are the ones that don't make you lose a game because of low batteries!
Therefore, I always recommend focusing on models with USB cable, which are much more reliable. If you want to keep your desk tidy and want to give up the cable to focus on wireless, make sure that the keyboard offers charging at the base, so you can avoid rechargeable batteries.
7) Type of switch : choosing a mechanical keyboard it is important to also choose the type of mechanism that allows the keys to work (precisely the switches). Each type of switch has a different level of precision, just as the pressure required to activate them is different (which can affect noise and precision). The best switches to play are the Cherry MX Red (widely used), but many elite players prefer to play with "harder" switches (Cherry MX Black or Cherry MX Clear) to improve the sensitivity to touch when pressing the keys in Contemporary. To play great we choose a model that has Cherry MX Red to obtain an excellent compromise between noise and pressure precision.
One last thing, not included in the previous points but still important: a comfortable keyboard for typing is not always suitable for gaming, and vice versa. Buying a gaming keyboard should therefore primarily accompany a gaming PC, with the possibility of writing occasionally without problems. A comfortable keyboard for writing may become impossible to use during games, so choose well which model to take.
