Extract audio from video quickly and easily

Extracting audio from video basically means converting that video or part of it into a file for listening only.
You can then save the dialogue of a scene in a film or you can extract the sounds or music of a video to be able to convert it into a file format to be included in your mp3 collection.
While I have already talked about programs to convert video to mp3, here we see how to extract audio from a video without using special software, but only using a basic function of VLC Media Player (desktop version), which everyone should already have installed on the computer (and if you don't have it, install it now)
VLC, in fact, has a function to convert video files of any format (MP4, AVI or others), into MP3 audio format, as if it were a recorder, which can be used at any time when you need only the audio track of the file video.
Then open VLC Media Player and before uploading any video, go to the menu at the top of the Convert / Save window where you can add the video file from which you want to extract the audio.
The selection of the video can be made from a file stored on the PC or even from a CD or DVD disc, from a network path or from a capture device, i.e. from a TV card or from a video camera connected to the PC.
Press on Add, choose the file and press on the Convert / Save button at the bottom (not on the arrow).
In the next window you just have to choose the right Profile to extract audio from the video, that is the Audio profile (MP3) or, if you prefer, you can also convert the video to Flac, Vorbis (Ogg) or CD track audio format.
Then press the settings button next to the profile selection box so that you can select the desired audio codec and, above all, in the Audio tab, the bitrate to define the quality.
Returning to the Convert / Save window, choose the destination file, i.e. give a name to the new audio file and select the folder where it will be saved.
The file format remains the one chosen above, for example MP3.
Press Start at the bottom to begin the conversion process, the progress of which is visible from the VLC playback bar.
In no time, you will get an MP3 file containing the audio extracted from the video without any difficulty or limitation.
