Smartphones with more powerful battery with longer life and autonomy

In the current state of technology on smartphones (with incredible new features presented every year), people with a practical sense and less tied to a specific manufacturer are especially concerned that the battery does not run out before the end of the day, even if the phone is used for a long time with the screen on or by calling.
The battery power is expressed in mAh (milliampere hour) and although it is not among the first parameters that are advertised on smartphones, but we can use it as a starting point to understand the total autonomy of the phone (there are of course also other factors, such as we'll see).
Of course the best phones all have good batteries, but if you don't want to spend too much money and autonomy is the thing we care about most, then you can find some smartphones with a battery large enough to be able to get to the end of the day, so as to charge it as little as possible.

1) The battery is not (always) everything
Before seeing the phones with the largest battery together, it is important to clarify a point: the energy capacity of the battery does not always translate into greater autonomy for a smartphone. Many smartphones with very "small" batteries manage to cover the whole day thanks to the great optimization of the operating system and the energy saving system (this is the case of Google's Pixel XL). Conversely, there are many smartphones with exaggerated batteries (even 6000 mAh or more) that may have difficulty keeping charge all day, perhaps because the operating system is poorly optimized or is unable to correctly manage the apps (which remain in memory active, using the CPU even with the screen off).
So let's not rely only on the mAh parameter to immediately decree a winning smartphone over another: surprises are around the corner.
Let's not forget that the rest of the hardware could also affect: a very powerful processor, a screen over 6 inches with high resolutions, a double SIM slot etc. they are all features that can decrease the autonomy even on smartphones with very high capacity batteries, lasting less than very cheap smartphones. What we can say is that, aiming for a larger capacity we will have more possibilities (not certainties) to cover the whole day, so here is the meaning of this guide and the phones that we will recommend below.
2) Best Smartphones with more powerful battery
After this introduction, we see in detail the best smartphones with a large battery of at least 4000 mAh. We will not consider phones with a lower battery quantity and not even those released before 2019 (except in one case as we will see): for the reasons expressed above we could also find smartphones with great autonomy on models with small batteries, but to be on the safe side we recommend to focus on the models reviewed below.
Motorola moto g7 power (€ 159): Motorola's new smartphone has an attractive design, very balanced software and a 5000 mAh battery, very large in relation to the characteristics of the product. You can arrive safely in the evening without problems (estimated 147 hours in duration)
RealMe 5 (€ 150): the new RealMe phone comes with powerful hardware and a very low price, but above all with a really important battery of 5000 mAh, which will allow this smartphone to arrive until the evening of the next day without any problem (estimated 144 hours duration)
Samsung Galaxy M30s (250 €): for some years Samsung, which has always produced the best smartphones, is also taking care of the battery autonomy and on this model it has mounted a 6000 mAh battery, making the M30s one of the smartphones with the best quality / battery life ratio (estimated duration 119 hours).
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro (230 €): Xiaomi has also thought well of making an inexpensive smartphone with high-level hardware and a large 4500 mAh battery, with an estimated duration of 114 hours.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (188 €): definitely one of the best smartphones of the year for price / quality ratio, with a fast and optimized operating system, accompanied by a very large 4000 mAh battery (estimated duration, 108 hours).
Samsung Galaxy S10 + (€ 700): in the high end of the market, where there are the most expensive and desired phones, the only convincing from the point of view of autonomy is the Galaxy S10 +, which has a 4100 mAh battery and is also able to take advantage of the great optimizations made by this manufacturer to better manage the apps and energy consumption (estimated duration 107 hours).
Lenovo P2 (180 €): even if it is a 2017 smartphone that can now be considered old, we leave it on this list because with its 5100 mAh battery, it still remains at the top of the list of smartphones with the battery with longer life, 149 hours according to the rankings.
3) Conclusions
Given the commercial success, the price and the popularity now purchased during 2019, the best smartphones with more powerful battery with longer duration and autonomy are therefore the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy M30s and the RealMe 5, which are more or less on the same price. The other smartphones are doing well enough, but in the case of Chinese smartphones there is always the unknown optimization and operating system (it is not known in advance how it is optimized).
To find more information on the battery life of smartphones, on the GSMArena website there is an updated and complete text (also source of the estimates seen above). The test compared the battery life of numerous smartphone models currently on sale all over the world (although some of them are not available in Italy) and revolves around three fundamental tasks: making calls, surfing and watching videos . The call duration test measures how long you can stay on the phone with your cell phone before the battery runs out of charge. In this test the screen remains off and all applications are closed. The second test, on the time in which you can surf the internet from your mobile phone, is done by reloading a web page every 10 seconds, with 50% screen brightness and Wifi connection that takes good. Finally, the test text measures how long a video or film can be viewed before the battery runs out of charge by up to 10%. The screen is still held at 50% and the phone is put into airplane mode, with all connections disabled. In the end you get a score in hours of autonomy, for example 40 hours, which means that you need to fully charge your phone every 40 hours if you made one hour of 3G calls, one hour of video playback and one hour of navigation web every day.
The ranking highlights how Chinese smartphones are the ones that last longer, equipping their phones with very powerful batteries.
