If we are great sports fans (football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, motorcycles, Formula 1 etc.) we want to be informed of events and changes in score or position at any time, even when we are away from home with only our smartphone or Tablet. Instead of going every time to check the app or the site of the results and sports news, we can use the smartphone notifications to immediately receive all the updates, so as to know well in advance the progress of the event without having to follow it live every second, especially if we can't watch the event on TV or streaming.

1) SofaScore
One of the best apps we can use to receive notifications on sports such as football, volleyball and basketball is Sofascore, available for download from here -> SofaScore (Android) and SofaScore (iOS).
Once installed on the device we use the tab in the center to identify the event we intend to follow, then we tap on the bell-shaped symbol present next to the event, so we can activate the notifications.
The bell will become active, thus informing us of the activation of push notifications.
Whenever the event undergoes a change (an action, a goal, a point, an expulsion or whatever) the notification will appear on our smartphone or tablet, complete with an audible warning.
All the events to which we have activated the notifications can be viewed using the Favorites tab, which collects all the events on which we have activated the bell.
In the Favorites screen we can also modify push notifications, so as to adapt them to our needs.
We tap at the top right on the bell symbol, then in the drop-down menu that we will see we tap on Settings notifications .
For each sport there are different types of notifications, it is up to us to choose which notifications we want to obtain based on the events we usually follow.
For example, we can only get notifications on goals and partial and final results for football matches, or the final score in basketball and volleyball, up to the notifications on the official formations, on the start of the event (up to 30 minutes before) and other actions such as red cards, awarded and wrong penalties etc.
2) OneFooball
If our passion is football and we want to be notified of both the results and the news of the day we must install the OneFooball app on our devices, available for free download from here -> OneFootball (Android) and OneFootball (iOS).
Once installed we will be able to receive notifications from our favorite team (which will make us choose at the first start) and the main sports news via notification by configuring the items in the Settings menu.
Push notifications for the favorite team are already active by default, but if we want to follow other football events of the same league or other leagues we will have to do is go to the Games menu at the bottom, tap on the event we intend to follow and then tap on the bell on the top right.
All the events on which we have activated the notifications are visible at the top of the day's events, so you can always see them as the first choice compared to the events that we do not follow.
When adding an event to push notifications, we can also choose for which action to receive the notification, in order to customize the experience according to our needs.
If we added an event by mistake and we want to remove it from the list of favorites, simply tap on the bell then tap on All events, so as to remove the check mark from all types of actions that show notification.
OneFootball is compatible with Android Wear and Apple iWatch, so you can receive notifications about a game directly on your smartwatch without even having to take out your smartphone or tablet.
3) FotMob
Another app that we can use to receive sports news and soccer results via notification is FotMob, available for free download from here -> FotMob (Android) and FotMob (iOS).
After installing this app on the smartphone or tablet in your possession, we will be able to activate push notifications for our favorite teams from the first start of the app, just customize the alerts as soon as they are proposed to us by the app.
Once configured we can still add events to our favorites (so as to receive push notifications) for any event scheduled on the day or in the following days by tapping on the top right on the three dots and selecting the Add / remove notifications of the game item and then doing tap on the bell symbols that will appear next to each event.
In this way we can always follow all the events we want, without having to go crazy in the search after the starting whistle.
We can see all the events to which we have added push notifications in the My Games section, available as a choice menu at the top, above all the events.
Push notifications are fast and punctual on this app, in addition we can also receive them on our faithful smartwatch thanks to support for Android Wear and for Apple iWatch.
4) Direct
If we look for the app that can show notifications on results faster than the competition (sometimes after a few seconds!) We can only point to the Diretta.it app, which can be downloaded for free from here -> Diretta (Android) and Diretta (iOS).
With this app we will be able to add notifications to the events of any sport in play, we will have to do is select the type of sport preferred in the sliding menu on the left, tap on the league or tournament and, as soon as we notice the event we want follow, tap on the star to add it to your favorites.
All the events that we have added to favorites and for which we receive notifications can be viewed from the menu below My games, so as to have everything under control during the match.
We can customize the push notifications we intend to receive by tapping on the symbol on the top left with three horizontal lines, then on Settings and finally on Notification Settings .
We will be able to customize push notifications for each type of sport, so as to obtain only those of interest.
