Update the drivers of a Windows PC automatically

Driver management is one of those operations that, nowadays, should definitely not be entrusted to the common user who uses the PC to write on Word or to play video games. Unfortunately, all operating systems are still plagued by the lack of centralized driver management, and even the dear Windows, which prides itself on making it easy to use the computer and who wants to automate all those operations, such as updating Windows, who maintain the stability of the system, he forgot them. Most people don't have a clue what a driver is and are often completely ignored, but they are mainly responsible for crashes, conflicts and various operating system malfunctions.
So when you connect a camera to your computer, the first thing that appears on the screen is " new device found, install drivers automatically?" YES answer, error result, " the device may not work properly ".
Luckily it was easy ...
A driver, in very simple terms, is the program that allows the operation of a peripheral such as a printer, a video card, audio, scanner and any hardware device that is connected to the computer, without installing the driver. it works. When a new component is purchased, such as a TV card or a mobile phone, there is always an installation CD inside the package which contains the driver and the management software of the appliance.
Although sometimes Windows, XP and Vista recognize the type of device and install the driver automatically, one of the most tedious operations is certainly the search, sometimes difficult, for the drivers of the various peripherals. Many times, either as a result of formatting or because the product CD has been lost or damaged, you find yourself no longer having these drivers or having them not updated with the unfortunate consequence that the devices work badly or worse, that a blue screen appears indicating the fatal windows error.

Regularly updating the drivers, especially of the video and audio card if you use your PC to play video games (for example, AMD updates its drivers once a month), allows you to solve the most common problems, to add support for the latest video games, and in general to increase computer performance .
To facilitate the updating of the drivers, the tools to be used so that they are updated automatically are, in order of importance and functionality:
1) Driver Easy is a program that scans your computer, searches for all installed drivers and compares them with the latest versions released by the manufacturers. At the end of a completely automatic procedure, the list of drivers to be updated comes out with the links for downloading and installing the new software.
2) IObit Driver Booster is a very easy to use program that automatically detects the current status of the installed drivers and for those of which there is a new version, offers the opportunity to update them. Clicking on Update All makes the complete update of the most recent drivers, removing the old ones.
3) DriverPack Solution automatically detects outdated and old drivers in the system and updates them all together. The program is very simple to use, free and also supports Windows XP as well as Windows 7 and Windows 10.
4) An excellent program is Device Doctor which allows you to check which drivers are not updated on your PC and provides the download of updates, free of charge and without too many laps.
It also works for Windows 7 and 64 Bit versions.
5) Snappy Driver Installer is an open source, portable program to install the right drivers on your computer and automatically update those present. Due to being open source and therefore non-commercial, it is perhaps the most reliable on the list, without references to sponsored sites or junk downloads.
6) DriversCloud finds the missing drivers compatible with your PC and installs them automatically. This is a driver update software that works in offline mode. It scans the computer hardware and, for each piece of hardware or software, provides a direct link to download the driver from the manufacturer. Unlike some of its competitors, it also displays the driver size, release date, number and version to make sure you download the correct drivers. In addition, it supports all versions of Windows from Windows 7 up to Windows 10.
7) Driver Fighter takes care of the computer hardware and finds all the latest drivers without damaging the system.
8) Slim Drivers is a free program that checks the drivers on your computer and, if more updated versions exist, provides links to download and then install them. There is a paid version of this program called DriverUpdate which also allows automatic updating.
9) Free Driver Scout is a very good and free installer that updates Windows drivers automatically.
10) Driver Identifier is an application used to find the drivers of any hardware component, including USB, processor, modem driver or connected printer driver. The already installed drivers are then automatically updated after a scan identifying the versions for which an update is available.
11) DriverZone is a web application that scans your PC, informs about obsolete drivers and allows you to download the latest drivers for the hardware mounted on your computer. All you need is a browser to automatically search and install the necessary drivers. The application automatically provides a link to download the latest drivers. The first time you use it, you will need to create a free account on DriverZone to start downloading the drivers.
12) DriverMax is a free application (now only on trial) able to analyze and census in a few moments all the drivers on the computer generating a detailed list of drivers indicating the version, the manufacturer and the status of the update. For all outdated drivers it can provide the direct link to the site from which to download . DriverMax also provides a very useful Import / Export functionality of the installed drivers useful in the case of a re-installation of Windows, avoiding the boring searches between the various installation CDs (which you may have also lost) or in the sites of all the various manufacturers hardware.
13) DUMO: Driver Update Monitor is a free program that scans your computer, displays the names, manufacturers and versions of the drivers and shows which ones need an update.
Obviously internet connection is needed to download the new drivers that are searched on the official sites
14) DriveTheLife is a Windows program (free only the trial) that allows you to find updates to the installed drivers to download and install them automatically. With this tool it is also easy to backup your drivers so that you can reinstall them from scratch.
15) RadarSync, free and free, which will scan the pc in search of updates for software and updates for drivers and give the possibility to download and automatically download updates.
16) Driver detective, excellent application, perhaps the best program of this kind, unfortunately for a fee, but the free version still indicates which drivers are not updated, then the download will be done by hand.
To completely eliminate old drivers and update and prevent device conflicts, such as those ATI and Nvidia which are the ones to be updated more frequently, the best application is Drivers Sweeper and for the correct uninstall procedure I recall the article on the removal of unused drivers and peripherals.
To make a backup of the drivers, once everything works correctly, the best driver backup program is, as already said, Driver Max in addition to Drivethelife.
