Facebook Moments app to send photos privately to Android and iPhone

On Facebook people share hundreds of millions of photos every day and if they don't do it on Facebook, they do it on Instagram.
Since photos are such an important part for Facebook, a specific application called Moments was released a year ago to manage photos on smartphones, not only to share them on Facebook, but also to look at the gallery of photos taken, to research and which also includes facial recognition.
That application released in the US has never been available in Europe due to the legal privacy issues caused by this facial recognition, which can automatically give people names on photos.
Facebook Moments is now out in Italy as an app different from the original one, without automatic face recognition, which works as an alternative photo manager for Android smartphones and iPhones .
Being from Facebook, anyone who uses social media to share photos must try Moments, which is not a gallery and camera manager, but a backup tool with unlimited space in the cloud and a tool to share photos privately, with relatives and friends, without having to publish them on Facebook .
UPDATE: Facebook has withdrawn the app which will no longer be available.
After installing Facebook Moments on iPhone or Android Smartphone, you can open the app and log in with your Facebook account.
All the photos on the device are synchronized and, first of all, Moments will ask you to manually indicate who the people appearing in the various photos in the phone's memory are.
If a person is on Facebook, their name can be chosen from the list of friends that appear below.
If, on the other hand, the person was not on Facebook or if children appear in the photos, it is possible to give him a name, which will not be published on Facebook at all, but which will serve to recognize that person in all the other photos, including future ones.
After indicating the name of a person, Moments will ask if you want to automatically send each photo in which that person appears to another Facebook user.
For example, you can ask to send grandparents all photos taken of your young son, privately and without publishing anything on the social network.
You can also skip this step and manually manage the sending of photos, from the main screen of the application, after the first configuration.
From the main interface it is possible to add new labels to faces, indicating the names of people in all the photos saved in the phone gallery.
Labels are not only names of people, but they can also be places, groups and other personalized things.
Always from the main screen of Facebook Moments you can finally create new moments, to organize photos of a trip or a trip out or a party or a particular event.
From the top menu you can switch from the initial tab to the tab to search for photos with labels, to the one to request photos from friends and the one to view notifications.
In practice Facebook Moments is a way of sharing photos privately, with Facebook friends, but without making publications on social networks .
Friends can exchange photos quickly, with private sharing without having to put them in the square with the Facebook app.
If you send photos from Moments to someone who doesn't have the app installed yet, this person will be notified in Facebook Messenger.
An interesting peculiarity of Facebook Moments is that the photos sent remain stored forever even if they are deleted from the device.
Moments then becomes an app similar to Google Photos to backup photos online without limits (even if the resolution is decreased and even if these photos are not visible from the PC).
To save photos in Moments just send them to someone you trust.
