10 reasons to leave Facebook and main problems

Facebook is the most successful social network in the world, everyone is there to be able to see what friends are doing and to share their thoughts.
There are, however, many problems with Facebook, mainly related to the privacy of information, but also to the addiction it creates and, in some cases, to the bad feelings that causes its wrong use.
Unless then you have a business to promote through Facebook, it may be a good idea to end it, cancel your account or, at least, simply exit temporarily by deactivating it.
In this article we see what are the main problems of the most famous social network and why it might be a good idea to leave Facebook, permanently or only for a while.
1) Facebook obtains and uses the data of its users
Facebook is free and will always be free, only when one registers, Facebook is given consent to use our personal data for commercial purposes.
Each user is therefore cataloged and can be used by advertisers as if it were a testimonial of what they like.
So if I say that I like a certain brand or a certain product, our friends will be able to see a post sponsored by the page of that product with the written below that I like.
2) Facebook makes you addicted
Addiction to social networks in general and Facebook in particular is now also testified by many psychologists.
There are many people who can not resist wanting to share the photo of each trip or even a simple lunch, who must have their say on each event of the day, who must check their friends' posts every hour to see what they combine and what they write.
The problem is that this continuous control is also done when you are away from home, when you should disconnect from the internet, when you should rest or have fun or chat with friends.
For many, Facebook has also completely replaced the Internet, becoming the only source of information.

3) The buffaloes are constantly increasing
If a person inquires only on Facebook ends up becoming easy prey for all the hoax sites that have been born in the last year, which to attract clicks and shares create bombastic titles, provocative and often images of absolute rhetoric and completely false news.
In the end, when one scrolls through the news shared on Facebook, it becomes more of a challenge to recognize the fake from the real than the real information.
In addition, those who share hoaxes also make the figure of the idiot in front of everyone.
4) Facebook feeds extremist positions
In addition to friends, on Facebook people also follow some pages of information and disclosure and people who mostly write things we agree on.
Those who follow political, social or religious topics will therefore end up reading only news and comments that do nothing but increase their own convictions.
To give a current example, if one thinks that immigrants are the cause of every problem in Italy and follows only pages and people who think the same way, he ends up by extending his conviction by totally missing the possibility of dialectics and discouraging the development of mind critical.
5) Self-esteem and envy problems
Many sociologists and psychologists have highlighted Facebook's dangers to users' mental health.
Among the most sensitive issues is that of self-esteem.
In fact, almost all active Facebook members tend to highlight the most positive aspects of their personality.
In front of friends who give the impression of always being on vacation, of traveling continuously, of having fun every evening, of always eating delicious things, of being happy and of having hundreds of friends, some people may lose their self-confidence and, in severe cases, also to gradually enter depression.
In other cases, instead, envy is nourished, which can also ruin the closest friendships.
6) Facebook encourages gossip
If it is true that Facebook is an excellent tool for keeping in touch with distant friends and relatives, on the other hand, its success is mainly determined by the possibility of doing other people's business and always having topics to talk about and gossip about.
Gossip, which can also be fun, can easily expire due to envy and suspicion and even become bad.
7) A lot of material for stalkers, pedophiles and maniacs.
Pedophiles, perverts and "stalkers" wallow on Facebook for the ease of being able to spy on profiles and photos without finding any obstacles.
Needless to say, the mere thought of being able to be seen by these types of people is by itself a sufficient reason to quit Facebook or to stop using it to publish photos.
8) Facebook is full of viruses
The computer viruses that, until some time ago, spread mainly via email, now find a huge potential audience on Facebook.
Just click on a wrong link found on the home or sent by a friend in chat, to get a virus that will automatically try to spread among friends, with other messages in chat or publications.

9) Sexual blackmail
On Facebook we are all recognizable by name, photo and friendships.
The phenomenon of false profiles is growing with beautiful girls who contact married men or boyfriends pretending a certain attraction.
After compromising things are said in chat, the trap can be triggered and the fake girl has an easy game in blackmailing the victim who will be forced to pay a certain amount to prevent the scammer from sending the conversation to his wife or girlfriend.
Worse still if instead of the chat there was also a video chat conversation, which could become even more embarrassing.
10) Privacy issue
Generally speaking, Facebook's worst flaw is the privacy of the information it shares.
All the previous points all lead to a problem of visibility of our profile, which if it is not protected, remains open to all.

In summary, as I see it, Facebook, like all things, becomes a dangerous tool for people's mental health if its use is abused.
At the same time, using Facebook requires acquiring some computer skills, I am not saying to become experts, but at least to know how to protect Facebook with the security settings.
To exit Facebook it is not necessary to cancel the account, but it can also be enough to deactivate Facebook temporarily or keep the profile private to the maximum.
