See the screen of another PC or Android in wifi on Windows 10

Another nice feature brought by Microsoft in Windows 10 with the anniversary update is the " Connect " application, which allows other computers to transmit, on the screen of the PC in which it is started, what you see on their monitor.
Any PC can now function as a Miracast wireless receiver, which is the wireless transmission standard from one device to another (a bit like Chromecast does for TV), so you can view images from another on the screen Windows PC or even from an Android smartphone or tablet or from a Windows phone (not iPhone and iPad because Apple does not support Miracast).

To turn your PC into a Miracast receiver and therefore allow other devices to project their screen onto that of your computer, just open, in Windows 10, the Connect application which is located in the Start menu.
If you don't see this application, you need to download the Annversary Update.
Upon opening the application, simply a message appears saying that the PC is ready for wireless connection .
There are no settings or options to configure, there is no menu, only this message that must be left open.
On some PCs, a warning message may appear on any content display problems due to hardware not specifically designed for wireless projection.
The application will still continue to work even though video streaming may not work.
To connect from another Windows PC to the PC that has the Connect app active, you must open the Settings> System menu and then in the Display section, click the link on the right " connect wireless screen ".
This setting is the same also on a smartphone with Windows 10 Mobile operating system.
The computer will then check if there are Miracast devices nearby and list them in a list.
Just click on the computer name found to transmit what you see on our screen.
After connecting, you will see some options:
- You can activate keyboard and mouse so that the PC that works as a receiver can interact with the PC that transmits its screen through the Connect application.
- You can change the projection mode, going from the default setting, "duplicate" mode to the way to extend the screen and treat the connected display as a second monitor, or even use only the second screen, the connected one.
- You can then use the full screen mode by pressing the " full screen " button on the title bar of the window.
Much more interesting than the connection between two computers is the possibility of transmitting the images displayed on the Android smartphone or tablet on the PC screen, if the manufacturer has maintained this function.
On some smartphones such as the latest Google Nexus, in fact, Miracast support has been removed from Android, leaving only the possibility to connect to Chromecasts.
However, the screen transmission function of an Android smartphone or tablet is found by going to Settings> Display -> Cast .
From Cast, tap the options button, the one with the three dots, and enable the " Enable wireless display " option.
The name of the Windows 10 PC that has the Connect app should now appear at the bottom and just touch it to project the phone screen on the computer monitor.
If you don't see the option, try searching for it on other menus (it may also be not present or under Wifi Direct ).
If, on the other hand, the transmitted screen was black, it is because the Android Settings menu, for security reasons, is not transmitted.
Then just close it to view the main screen.
To stop the projection, just close the Connect window on the receiver PC.
If however this Miracast support does not work on Windows 10, there are many other ways to project the screen of one computer or phone on another and we have talked about it in other articles such as:
- Better apps to share your PC screen
- See the Android screen on your PC and use it
- Use your Windows mobile phone (and Lumia) from a PC by projecting the screen
