See video previews of RAR, ZIP and other archives

In another article we have already talked about file archives, that is, those files that contain other files and which have the dual function of creating a single container and compressing it to save space and decrease its size. The most famous of these programs are winZip and WinRar but we have also seen which are the best alternatives that can open any type of computer archive.
In addition to opening a .rar or .zip file, sometimes, there are times when you may need or want to immediately navigate within an archive without having to first open it and without extracting the files.
There are some commercial software that can do this but also a small and easy free program called Zipeg .
Zipeg is available for Windows and Mac, and is another alternative for compressing data in an archive like WinZip and WinRAR are. It supports a wide variety of storage formats (ZIP, RAR, ARJ, LHA / LZH, 7z, TAR, and others) and provides users with the ability to browse, preview and open specific files, directly from within the archive. This operation, with winrar, is not possible, in fact, even if you can see the files inside the archive, to open one, you must first extract it and take it out of the archive itself.
About Zipeg you can read the complete list of functions from their site, here we see the most interesting ones. Users can see what's inside the archive before extracting the files and opening and running it. Thumbnails or thumbnails of images can be viewed. ISO images of CDs and DVDs can be explored. Users can unzip objects simply by dragging them out of the archive.
You can choose which file format to associate with the Zipeg program (from the menu: “Options -> Settings -> Files”).
Zipeg supports password protected archives but clearly the user must always know the password to extract the contents.
"Multi-part" archives can also be created and opened, that is divided into different parts, making sure that they are included in the same folder.
So I think it is an alternative software to remember when you want to know what a rar or zip archive contains, without opening it, also to be sure that it does not contain a malicious file and to preview some files such as videos, films, images or mp3, which are downloaded from the internet or from Emule and that you never know if they are the right ones.
In particular, to view previews of videos and films downloaded from emule in archive formats as Rar files, you can use VLC Media Player.
I also recommend the Dziobas RAR Movie Player program which allows you to watch a video before it is completely downloaded and extracted.
It basically serves to open and play video files from incomplete RAR files.
To extract files from archives that must be downloaded from the internet, such as the driver package or a series of images, Wobzip becomes very useful, which allows you to choose which files within the archive before downloading., download and leave the others.
An alternative program to Zipeg to preview videos in Zip or RAR files is Zip Preview, free.
