Shooter between giant robots and Mech warriors to drive

The Mech Warriors are the warrior robots, similar to those of big and clumsy Star Wars the return of the jedi, those with two legs and a head.
Hawcken is a very fun robot war game in the first person shooter genre.
Despite being an old game, it still deserves to be played on today's computers, with full freedom of action, to pass the time and have fun without spending a penny.
In Hawcken one of these huge robot mechs must be guided on battle missions against other robots.
To begin, you can do the training so as to learn the commands that, at the beginning, are not exactly the maximum of simplicity.
In the game against the computer you can choose whether to face the missions or to play the Wave mode, the one with offensive waves to be repelled.
You can also play a game on the net with friends or in multiplayer mode via the internet (if you find the server) up to a maximum of 16 players.
The real game is in single player against the computer, in the Campaign mode with a series of missions to be progressively overcome, increasingly difficult.
Mechs take damage that can be repaired with the money earned when passing missions.
Less damage is better and it is therefore not advisable to play it all on the attack.
In battles you can move the mech freely, alternating the internal or external views of the robot.
With the radar we orient ourselves and we find the enemies that must be hit with cannons, targeting the targets.
Hawcken can be played with the keyboard and mouse although a joystick would be more convenient.
The graphics are in 3D, very accurate, with well-designed scenarios that still keep pace with the evolution (provided that you don't immediately start playing Crysis 2 or other modern videogames).
Mechs move and make themselves feel as expected with a heavy step and very powerful weapons.
Fans of FPS games may have some problems with the controls because the driving simulation does not only foresee back and forth but just a movement system created specifically for the robot.
Overall, the Hawcken game is worth playing today, for free, as a first-person shooter different from the usual, with giant robots to drive and Star Wars locations.
The pace is certainly slower and the less frenetic battle of a war game like Team Fortress 2 and other free shooter games already mentioned in the past but driving robotic vehicles as big as mechs can give a feeling of power that is difficult to repeat.
Since 2012, you can also play Mechwarrior online, a free-to-play MMO game that uses the famous CryEngine 3 graphics engine (that of Crysis).
Players drive these super giant Mech robots and play with a perspective view from the cockpit.
