Music games had their peak until last year, then Guitar Hero practically disappeared, while Rockband, although it should still be on sale, was not exactly the expected success. The problem with these games I don't think is their quality and the fact that they are not fun but perhaps the cost, especially of the equipment, such as the fake guitar, rather bulky.
For this reason I think that if these games can be downloaded and played for free on the computer to play, dance or sing on the PC, without having to buy special instruments, then the matter completely changes.
1) Frets on Fire to play the chiatarra with the keyboard is among the best games to play famous songs on the computer, following the keys indicated on the screen.
The goal of the game is to press the right button at the right time and then generate the correct sound.
Included in the game are several great rock hits including some easier and slower and others more difficult, where you have to be very quick and have a great sense of rhythm.
The ideal way to have fun is to take up the keyboard like a real guitar.
The music game is available for Windows, Linux and Mac and also exists in another version called FoFix, much improved which also includes the possibility of playing the drums.
2) OSU is a rhythm-based music game for Windows only that can be played online with challenges against other players.
In OSu you have to click on the balls that appear on the screen to complete the song that is playing and the fun is guaranteed.
3) StepMania to play dancing is a clone of the Dance Dance Revolution game which is also widely advertised on TV.
Clearly, unless you buy a platform connected to the computer, you don't really dance but you play with the keyboard by pressing the right keys that indicate the dance steps to take.
The game is full of famous songs which is a pleasure to listen to.
Stepmania 5 also supports online gaming and can be downloaded for Windows, Linux and Mac.
In addition to Stepmania there are other free dance games including Audition very similar and famous for being an online game.
If you really want to dance, you can instead play with Steps Evolution, an online game that is based on the webcam, therefore without a keyboard, dancing with free body in front of the screen.
4) Performous is an open source game that contains all these games together, including that UltraStar Deluxe I mentioned in the article: Play your music, sing online and compose songs with your pc .
Perfomous is probably the most complete musical game on the list, with more features for playing the guitar, even connecting it to the computer, dancing and singing into the microphone, alone or in a group .
5) To sing Karaoke with friends, the best solution is to use Youtube and the online Karaoke of the Cantanding site which collects the main videos with the words highlighted below as it happens in classic Karaoke.
