Guide to configure Tor with foreign IP

All websites know where the connection of a person surfing the internet comes from. So here you just need to access a site like Google and Facebook to be automatically directed to the Italian versions or, going to Ecommerce sites, notice how the best sites are able to recognize the city in which we are. Consequently, if a site is blocked by the government or by some judicial authority because it contains illegal or censored material, this site is not that it disappears from the internet, but only access from the country that imposed the block is prevented.
If a site does not open from Italy, then, it is not said that this has disappeared for everyone, but it may be that it is accessible from the USA for example or from neighboring Switzerland.
There are several ways to overcome filters and blockages on websites and censorship on the internet in order to hide the IP address, the one from which you are recognized.
The most effective method of all is access to the TOR network, the only tool that guarantees full complete privacy on the internet and that also allows you to browse with foreign and disguised IPs to avoid being recognized by authorities and any other person.
The Tor project was born with the aim of making geographic detection of the origin of an internet connection very difficult, thus protecting privacy and overcoming any complaints or blockages in the countries . Any site blocked or obscured in Italy, you can still look and navigate simulating a connection with the IP address of another country, using Tor .
In this article we see a practical and precise guide to understand how to use TOR in a simple way, trying not to slow down the internet connection and to overcome the blocking of all sites not visible from Italy or, vice versa, to see the contents of Italian sites overshadowed abroad.
I had already talked about Tor (which stands for The Onion Router ) when I explained how to access the Deep web, the parallel internet of illegal or censored sites.
In short, Tor works so that anyone can create, anonymously and voluntarily, a server through which they can pass the internet connection of others in an encrypted way. For example, from a computer in New York, you can create a server that works as if it were a router, so that I, from Rome, can connect to the internet via that New York computer and then again for another one that is located maybe in New Delhi.
The sites I connect to will think that I am in New Delhi, without any possibility of knowing who we are, without the possibility of being able to trace the path to get to that node, without being able to know where we started from and what data we transmit, because they are encrypted by Tor. Our network provider, therefore Fastweb or Telecom, which has been commissioned to set the block on a censored or obscured site, will never know which site we want to visit if we switch from the TOR network and will not be able to block any site. Furthermore, it is possible to configure Tor to simulate the internet connection from a specific country, in order to view the contents that may be blocked.

Configuring TOR correctly following the guide below is important in order to unlock the vision of each site, to be able to navigate with foreign IPs without slowing down and not to make mistakes that can frustrate any effort to remain anonymous and disguised.
1) To surf freely with TOR you must first download Tor Browser in Italian, the latest version for Windows, Mac or Linux.
Installation is simple and just indicate a folder where to go forward with the default settings.
All sites visited with the TOR browser go through the Tor network, but to be anonymous there are conditions to be respected:
- You don't have to keep another browser running simultaneously.
- No external extensions and plugins should be installed.
- Flash Player must be disabled.
- You must not store your browsing history.
- Do not download and open downloaded files.
- Open sites in HTTPS (Tor Browser includes the HTTPS Everywhere extension).
- Tor Browser includes HTTPS Everywhere, Noscript, Tor Button and Tor Launcher add-ons.
- Tor Browser's default search engine is DuckDuckGo, which doesn't store searches like Google does.
2) After installing Tor Browser, open the folder where it was installed with the path TorBrowser -> Browser -> TorBrowser-> Data -> Tor and find the torcc file .
It is a text file to be opened with the Notepad (press on it with the right mouse button, go to Open with and then choose the Notepad) which contains all the connection configuration to TOR. To set the connection to exit from a specific node in a specific country (and not randomly assigned), you must edit this text file by adding two lines at the bottom:
ExitNodes {}
StrictExitNodes 1
A country identification code can be entered inside the braces after ExitNodes.
For example, {it} is Italy, while the United States is {us} and Switzerland is {ch} .
A list of all the codes for each country in the world can be found on this page.
Save the file (without changing its name and extension) and close the window.
3) Instead of the brace with the country code inside, you can also write the name of the node that you want to use for the TOR connection.
In this case it is possible to use the site TorStatus shows the whole TOR active network with the servers scattered all over the world.
Scrolling down the page (the list is very very long) you see, at the end, an option on which you have to click: " show custom / advanced query options ".
In the Advanced Search section, select in the first drop-down menu, " Country code " then, in the space below, write the code of the country whose internet connection you want to simulate.
Basically you go to filter the entire list of proxies choosing to see only those of a specific country.
The parameters that interest us are the bandwidth which gives us the speed of the server and the connection and the number of days of Uptime which indicates reliability over time.
Trying to find the best one based on these two parameters, write down the exact name of the chosen one.
This same procedure applies to finding a node to simulate connecting to the internet from other countries.
Italians abroad can therefore search for Italian nodes.
To write the name of a particular node on the torcc file, go to the TorStatus website, choose one of the servers and click on its name ( router name ).
The fingerprint appears in the details window, which is the code that interests us.
That code must be copied, without spaces and without brackets, next to ExitNodes.
For example:
ExitNodes 29C92C854E0F6652A77F3A8B231D6932993969E8
StrictExitNodes 1
4) Open TOR Browser, open the //whatismyipaddress.com/ site or the //ipaddress.com/ site to be sure of being detected with the foreign IP of the chosen country.
NOTE: TOR can also be used from Chrome thanks to a special extension.
NOTE 2: TOR can be used on Android
