Common solutions to Windows 10 errors

Some people who upgraded the PC to Windows 10 then encountered some problems, from the system that no longer starts to errors that block the computer or that prevent the correct functioning of programs, Wifi, Cortana or applications.
Although for some problems there may be specific solutions that I invite you to search on Google in the official Windows Answers forum, in this article we talk instead of the generic solutions to Windows 10 errors, those that are recommended most often to correct any bug or malfunction of Windows 10., so as to avoid a reinstallation.
In the end, if after searching the Microsoft forum nothing specific is found and if after applying the suggestions of this article the error has not yet been corrected, it means that there is a problem of hardware compatibility and, at least for now, you will have to give up Windows 10.

Before making any corrections, make sure you have installed all updates and create a system restore point.
1) Error of damaged or missing files.
This is an error that should be easily resolved by using the SFC / Scannow command which fixes system file errors in Windows.
In Windows 10, right-click the Start button, open a command prompt as an administrator and run the following command:
sfc / scannow
This scans your PC and replaces the unpacked system files with the good ones.
2) Repair image of the Windows system
If replacing files does not work with the SFC command, the internal system image may be damaged in turn.
To repair it, open an elevated command prompt as administrator and type the following command:
Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth
Restart after the scan and, if there are still problems, repeat SFC / Scannow as per point 1.
3) To solve errors with the Windows Store and applications
If the Store and Windows 10 applications open badly or do not open at all, proceed as written in the linked guide to reinstall the Store or to register it again.
4) Problems with audio, wifi and other devices connected to the computer.
The audio or network drivers that were installed in Windows 7 and 8 may not work well in Windows 10.
On the forums there are already many discussions about it that you can already look for.
In general, it is better to open the Control Panel, go to the Device Manager, find the audio or network device that is not working, press on it with the right button and uninstall it also putting the cross to the " delete the software from the device " option.
At this point you can restart the computer if required or, after removing it, again from the device manager, press on the Action menu > Scan for hardware changes .
If it still doesn't work, try searching the internet for a more updated driver on the manufacturer's website or, at least, that of Windows 8.1.
In another article, everything you need to know about updating your PC drivers.
For 5.1 or 7.1 audio, uninstall the driver and test the configuration from the Control Panel .
Windows troubleshooting tools can work to resolve these types of problems.
NOTE: See here how to fix black screen issue in Windows 10.
5) The PC restarts continuously
Again, try the safe mode and try, as per point one, to run SFC / scannow.
If nothing works, use the mode to repair your PC.
Then download the Windows 10 installation disc and boot your computer from it.
In the initial menus, find the word Repair your computer, at the bottom left of the screen.
From here go to troubleshooting -> Advanced options and find the tools of system restore, system image restore, startup recovery, Command Prompt, and go back to the previous generation.
Use system image recovery to correct any possible Windows 10 errors.
6) Programs that don't open or open badly.
Some programs that worked with Windows 7 and Windows 8 may not work in Windows 10 if they are old and have not been updated anymore.
If there are no new updates of these programs, press on their icon with the right mouse button, go to the compatibility tab and try to run them in compatibility with Windows 7 .
Apply the change and try to open it again.
7) How to solve if Menu Start, Edge and Cortana don't work in Windows 10 is another article that I was forced to write from direct experience, with an error caused by a really annoying random bug.
For many other internal Windows 10 errors, you can use the FixWin 10 program to correct them.
It is an automatic tool that lists the type of problem and allows you to solve it with a click.
