Find out the WiFi signal strength on Windows PC

The wifi signal strength in a Windows PC can be guessed by pressing the network button near the clock and then counting the number of white colored bars that goes from 0 to 3.
However, wanting to optimize the signal range, we could look for a better location of the router and also how you can choose the wireless network of the wifi network with the most powerful signal, changing only one option on the router.
To understand whether the best situation or not, however, you need to find out the exact signal strength on a Windows PC .
To know the exact value of the current wifi signal strength on a Windows PC, there are at least two simple ways that will provide the results to be used to improve the power and range of Wi-Fi at home or in the office.

1) The first way to measure the intensity of the wifi is simple and fast, it does not require you to download or install any program and you just need to type a command on the Windows command prompt (tried with Windows 10, it should also work in Windows 7 and 8)
From the Start menu, then, search for the word cmd and open the command prompt.
In the prompt write the following command:
netsh wlan show interface
This will give you detailed information about the wireless network: Name, GUID, physical address, status, SSID, BSSID, network type, radio frequency type, authentication, encryption, channel, reception / transmission speed and, above all, the signal.
The signal is represented with a percentage value and accurately measures its power.
You can run this command as many times as you want, noting that if you move the router, this value will change by increasing or decreasing.
You will then notice how concrete walls and other thick surfaces can greatly weaken the wireless signal and that the closer you put the PC, the more intense it will be.
2) If you want to view the results of the network information on a program window and without typing commands, then you can use the small tool WirelessConnectionInfo, a freeware application for Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 that allows you to view all the details. on the wireless network you are connected to. It gives much more detail than can be obtained from the command line seen in step 1, and of course there is the signal strength.
The data displayed with this program can be customized and also exported to an HTML report to be saved and shared.
With WirelessConntecionInfo you can easily update the statistics and the signal strength detected by pressing F5 on the keyboard.
At this point it becomes easier to experiment and try the different ways to amplify the Wi-Fi in your home and extend wireless reception
