When Google Earth seemed to be destined for a secondary product to be used only as a special way of seeing Google Maps, Google has announced the new version of this historic program, with truly beautiful modern graphics. With Google Earth it is possible to see the Earth as if we were viewing it from space, seeing the terrestrial globe, the continents, the seas, the new, the mountain differences in all the details.
The new Google Earth is very different from the original program, which can still be downloaded on Windows, Mac and Linux PCs, because it is a web app for Chrome and an application for Android smartphones and tablets.
To start with the new Google Earth (Google Earth 9), open the website on Chrome //www.google.com/earth/index.html and start the 3D simulator or install the latest version of the app for Android phones and tablets and for iPhone / iPad .
The iPhone and iPad version will arrive shortly as will support for Firefox and other browsers.
In addition, the Google Earth VR program is also available, to be used with a 3D viewer such as Oculus Rift.
Once you open Google Earth on Chrome, you can use the mouse wheel to zoom and enlarge an area until you get a satellite view of a city, a neighborhood or even your home.
With the new Google Earth you can really learn a lot about the worlds in which we live and you can explore every place virtually as if we were really flying over that area.
Compared to previous versions of Google Earth, in this new application the whole screen is occupied by the planet Earth and the only thing there is to do is turn and see the world in 3D using the mouse or zoom in on a particular area by looking for it on the bar of research.
The menu on the left allows you to open the search, open Voyager mode and then save your favorite places and share coordinates.
For each enlarged destination, information sheets complete with photos and short descriptions from Wikipedia are available.
Obviously, the terrestrial view is practically all in 3D, so you can tilt the view and see mountains, hills, buildings, towers and monuments.
As you will notice, the photographic view is correct via software and the world is incredibly detailed, realistically designed and corrected digitally.
Voyager mode allows you to make virtual adventures in Google Earth, visiting parks, natural monuments or particularly interesting landscapes around the world in interactive mode.
In Voyager mode you can therefore discover the most interesting points of the selected areas of interest and also discover high-resolution photographs.
By pressing the button with three lines at the top left, you can access Google Earth Settings, where you can choose the unit of measurement, the amount of cache on disk, the speed of the animations and where you can activate support for KML files, those that in the Google Earth program for PC allowed to import special itineraries.
Always from the main menu, you can decide the style of the map, to see the Earth as seen from space or with the borders of the States, with the streets and the names of cities and streets.
Without knowing where to go, you can press the dice button to go to a random place and start exploring it in the unique way of Google Earth.
The Google Earth app, leaner than the program and more beautiful and pleasant to use, however, lacks all the accessory tools that made the Google Earth program also a study and work tool.
However, the Google Earth Pro version is always available and free.
This online version of Google Earth is quite different from the original program which also included many useful tools and a view of the seabed and planets.
Those who prefer can still download Google Earth 7 for Windows Linux and Mac PCs .
