While recording phone calls with your smartphone is very easy, using apps or integrated functions, it is different if you want to record phone conversations using a landline phone. Fortunately, it is always possible to use the computer and a Voip telephony program such as Skype. The advantage of using Skype is the fact that everyone knows it, that almost everyone has already installed it on their PC, which is simple and, above all, that you can also use it to call fixed numbers for very little money. As explained, in fact, it is possible to use Skype as a phone to call and receive and at very low costs if we talk about fixed numbers.
Even if Skype does not have this function, it is possible to record every type of phone call made from the computer (even video calls), thanks to some free programs for Windows PCs that integrate with Skype .
UPDATE: Starting from the Skype 8 version it is possible to record Skype calls and video calls directly from the program .
To record a call on Skype, just press the + button during the call or video call and go to other options. The participants of the call will be notified of this recording which is published in the chat and remains available to be downloaded for 30 days. You can save a SKype recording from the menu of other options. The videos are downloaded in MP4 format in the Downloads folder of the PC.
1) The best free program to record calls and calls with Skype is perhaps MP3 Skype Recorder . This software is the only one that can be used in a free version to store the audio of the phone calls made via Skype on the PC, saving the recordings in an mp3 file with no time limit. 3) Another excellent and easy free program to record Skype conversations, whether they are voice chats or phone calls from the PC, is the iFree Skype Recorder . It can also set up automatic registration, it can be used for Skype2Skype calls, SkypeOut / SkypeIn and conferences with multiple people.

4) Callnote is an audio recording program for video call programs such as Skype, Hangouts, Viber and Facebook. The limit of the free version is only to be able to make maximum 10 registrations per month. You can record audio and video separately or in HD quality for a high level production. The program starts recording automatically or can be used with the record and stop buttons.

7) Vodburner is a program, free only for testing, which allows you to record phone calls and also video calls with Skype, audio and video. VodBurner is a Windows-only program that requires, after the canonical installation, the authorization of its use with Skype, giving consent when requested. Once Vodburner has been granted Skype access, Vodburner will start recording automatically as soon as you make a call. From the Vodburner toolbar you can see that the videochat is currently being recorded. You can stop the recording at any time by pressing the Pause or Stop button.
8) Talkhelper with which you can record and save Voip phone conversations from Skype, including video calls.
9) Amolto is a Skype recorder for audio and video calls, free even if with some limitations, and which saves audio tracks as mp4 files.
10) Pamela, a plugin that integrates into Skype and allows you to record calls and video calls even between multiple users simultaneously. Pamela is one of the software that offers higher quality but, as mentioned, it is not free except for recording 15 minutes of conversation.
For Mac, you can use the Call Recorder program, which works great, even if it's not free.
For Linux instead there is an open source tool called SCX Recorder which should be easy to use and allows you to record phone calls and calls with Skype.
To stay on the subject I like to remember the software that is used to modify and camouflage the voice during a phone call via the Internet, Skype or chat.
Finally, remember that, for privacy laws, the use of these registration programs must be declared to the interlocutors because otherwise it would be the equivalent of an interception and the registrant could be denounced.
