Generate random, secure and automatic passwords on Chrome

Google Chrome, for some time, offers the ability to save passwords for all online accounts by acting as a real password manager. The browser then stores the passwords of the accounts and websites protecting them securely within the personal Google account. The passwords are then synchronized in the Google account so that they can be used, without having to write them, from any PC or smartphone, always using Google Chrome.
In addition to this feature, the ability to generate random passwords automatically has also been added recently, which is a great convenience. This feature allows you to register new accounts on websites or change the passwords of existing accounts, without having to think about a new password, letting Chrome generate it automatically and randomly. This password will be impossible to remember because it is made with a long sequence of alphanumeric characters and this is where the password manager comes in again. Although it cannot be remembered in mind, this password is stored in the Google account and will be automatically filled in when necessary to log in to that site, without having to know what it is.

This way of managing website accounts can seem risky and unsafe to the less experienced, while it is quite the opposite. In fact, passwords that you cannot remember in mind are the most difficult for hackers to discover and at the same time there is no need to worry about losing passwords or forgetting them, obtaining a double advantage. The only password to be remembered and never given to anyone becomes that of the Google account, through which it is always possible to review all the saved passwords.

How to generate strong passwords with Chrome

To use this automatic function to generate random passwords with Chrome, the most important requirement is to have a Google account and to be logged in by pressing the icon with the facet in the upper right corner. Then open Chrome settings from the main menu to go to activate password saving and automatic access to sites. To find these options, you can also press the profile icon at the top right or open a new tab at chrome: // settings / passwords .
Next, open a website where you can create an account and note that when you go to write a new password, Chrome pops up asking you to use the suggested password, which is absolutely random. If this popup does not appear, you can press the right mouse button on the empty password field, and then press on " Suggest password ".
Registered the account, the next time you want to log in to that site, Chrome will ask you to use the saved password without having to write it by hand.

How to change an existing password

At this point, to secure all the already registered accounts such as email, Facebook and others, you can enter the accounts and find the security settings to change your password. Then enter the old password and then, in the New Password field, use the one suggested by Chrome or press the empty field with the right button to ask to generate a new random password.
The only precaution to report is that the use of this function to change the password of an existing account may not update it among those saved in the Google account. After saving the new password, you must first exit the website, then click on the key icon in the address bar, enter the username for that site and click on " Update password ".

Conclusions

Everything works beautifully and without complications, with passwords saved in the Google cloud and always usable from any device you use. As written in a similar guide, passwords saved in Chrome are visible on every PC or other browser.
Google saves all passwords with automatic access in sites and applications also on the apps of the Android smartphone, thanks to the Smart Lock function.
As seen in another post, then, it is possible to backup the passwords saved in Chrome to export them to a text file on the computer.
The only issue that can turn your nose up is the idea that Google manages passwords. I personally believe that Google is very reliable from the point of view of the security of its data, although it is not at all for the management of privacy, but that's another matter.
