For any error in the Windows 10 Start menu

Among the most frequent and annoying errors that can occur on a Windows 10 PC are those related to the Start menu that stops working as it should and no longer appears or appears busted. There may therefore be problems opening it, missing objects that seem impossible to find or tiles that are not displayed correctly. The Start menu always remains the central access point of the programs even in Windows 7 and is above all important for Cortana's search and voice assistant to work if it is used.
Since problems with the Windows 10 Start menu have been frequently reported in the Microsoft forums, a tool has been released, finally and officially, that repairs any type of error related to the Start Menu, so as to bring it back to work as before.
This tool therefore becomes the first thing to try in case of errors with the Windows 10 start menu .
If there is a problem with the Start menu that does not respond or remains blocked, there is an easy way to solve the error, without doing a reset and without losing the organization of the menu itself.
Starting from Windows 10 v1903 the Start Menu is powered by a separate process called StartMenuExperienceHost.exe . This file is located under the path C: \ Windows \ systemApps \ Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_xxxxxxxxx
So if the Start menu does not work, you can open the Task Manager or Task Manager (by pressing the CTRL-Shift-Esc keys together), then go to the processes tab and scroll the list until you find a program with the name START .
Press on it with the right mouse button and select End operation .
The boot menu process stops and then automatically restarts after a second or two.
If it does not restart automatically, you can go to the file (see the path above) and press on it with a double click.
Alternatively, you can restore the Windows 10 Start Menu in this way.
Open Powershell from the Start menu or from the search button on the taskbar and run the following command as an administrator:
Get-appxpackage -all * shellexperience * -packagetype bundle |% {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($ _. Installlocation + "\ appxmetadata \ appxbundlemanifest.xml")}
In case there are still problems, there are two other ways described in other articles.
- Creating a new Windows account can solve all the problems of Start Menu, Edge and Cortana in Windows 10 .
- Use the SFC / Scannow system correction tool to restore corrupt files .
