Facebook is not only social networks but also a messaging app, the Facebook Messenger that looks a lot like Whatsapp, which works a little differently because it is not tied to a phone number. As we know, to chat with Facebook friends it is mandatory to install Facebook Messenger on your mobile phone.
This disputed obligation has made Facebook Messenger indispensable enough to be installed by more than 600 million users.
It was therefore obvious that with such a large audience this app would develop into a real platform, i.e. an app on which other apps can be based as if they were plugins or add-ons.
With this change, many existing and new applications have exploited the integration becoming apps for Facebook Messenger, that is, they work within the chat by adding and improving functions or expanding the options .
In this way, the Facebook Messenger app remains light and fast, leaving the task of adding functionality to external and optional apps.
This type of application is completely separate from Messenger, they are full-fledged apps with their icons and are not used from within Messenger, but from outside, creating content that can then be shared in Messenger.
The best of these applications, for iPhone (or iPad) and Android, to be used in Facebook Messenger are, at the moment:

8) JibJab the app to put your face on a dancing body, famous for the famous elf dancers of Elf Yourself, is now an app built into Messenger.

Certainly the Facebook Messenger platform will continue to evolve and new apps will be created to share new things in chat or to offer more special, useful or fun services.
