Here WeGo maps online on PC

Nokia recently launched a web version of its Nokia Maps application which can be viewed from your computer and from Android, iPhone, Blackberry smartphones and, of course, from Nokia smartphones.
Nokia Maps (the service was called HERE ) thus becomes a small free online navigator to always have the world map at hand and also to find roads and itineraries.
Here WeGo however is different from the homonymous Nokia Maps application (ex Ovi Maps) which can be installed only on Nokia phones; it is in fact an HTML5 website that can be consulted via the computer browser or, above all, an Android or iPhone and iPad mobile phone
The surprising feature is that Here WeGo (ex Nokia Maps) is not only a road map but also a voice navigator to listen to the directions of walking itineraries.
Here WeGo for the computer browser is the classic site with maps of cities and roads around the world where you can search for directions to get from one point to another.
Similar applications there are several such as Bing Maps and, above all, Google Maps.
Nokia Maps is very similar to Google Maps but uses different maps provided by Navteq.
Similarly to Google Maps, it offers a satellite view and also a 3D view that can be selected from the menu at the top right and which requires the installation of a browser plugin.
The 3D view is very similar to that of Google Earth, it is available for some Italian cities where it is possible to see all the buildings and monuments with the three-dimensional, three-quarter view from above.
By registering on the Here WeGo website, you can also create itineraries from your PC so that you can find them on your mobile phone for GPS navigation.
On the other hand, the mobile version of Here WeGo can be reached by navigating with the browser of an iPhone or an Android mobile phone at the address: m.here.net (or m.maps.nokia.com).
Without downloading anything you get a real voices navigator from which you can search for streets and draw travel itineraries from your current location.
To use the new HERE Wego service (which was from Nokia), permission must be granted to the site to detect its position and activate the GPS receiver for a more precise location.
You can then choose where you want to go and get driving or walking directions.
For pedestrian indications, indicating a point of arrival no further than 50 km away, you can press the play button, download the audio package and listen to the indications by voice of the navigator (for now the voice speaks only English).
In addition to this, you can press on a street to view all the nearest points of interest and thus find restaurants, places of entertainment, shops and tourist attractions.
Nokia wants this to be a navigator for urban use and not for the car and promises that other functions will be added in the future.
Particularly not negligible is the ability to save parts of the map to be able to view it on the phone's browser even without an internet connection, which is ideal when going abroad and cannot be connected.
Obviously there is also HERE Wego for Android and iPhone as a satellite navigator even offline.
So basically you can have the browser with HERE Wego maps always available on your mobile browser, without having to buy, install or open other applications.
Certainly on Android Google Maps Navigator does this and much more, but as the map is different, Here Wego Maps can be an excellent alternative when Google Maps struggles to find good directions.
I also remember that on Android and iPhone you can download the GPS navigator with free Waze maps.
