Those who want to use Skype more freely, without being forced to install the client, will be happy to know that from now on it is possible to chat with friends and call and video call Skype contacts (not even call phones using Skype credit), from computer, without installing anything, just by opening the web browser on the Outlook.com page .
The only requirement is the installation of an additional browser plugin, which is always a program, but certainly smaller and less heavy.
Skype for Outlook.com had already been available in the US for almost a year but has only recently been released worldwide and, therefore, also in Italy.
Registered users with an Outlook.com address or even those who have an old Hotmail address, can now access Skype directly from the email site.
To access Skype from Outlook.com, as mentioned, you only need to download the plug-in that works on Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox and Safari.
UPDATE: Skype is now also available online via website to chat, phone and video call .
To use Skype from Outlook.com, open Skype.com and sign in with a Microsoft account.
If you already had a Skype account, you can associate it with your Microsoft account so that they are the same.
Now open Outlook.com and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for Skype.
On the right side you should notice a chat panel.
If it is not visible, press the speech bubble button at the top right.
Then click on " Start new conversation " to choose the person to chat with who can now also call or video call.
If Facebok and Google chats have been merged into Outlook.com, which is useful but confusing, you have to disconnect them.
Then go to the configuration page of the Microsoft profile and disconnect Google and Facebook.
When you open a chat with a Skype contact, you will notice the two buttons of the voice call and that of the videochat.
Just press those keys to call them.
Note that, with this system, it is also possible to chat from Skype via the web, which until now has been impossible or almost impossible.
From now on Outlook.com is even more similar to Gmail which has Hangouts videochat.
