Google Go: Browser app to do research with lite mode and voice reading

Google has launched a new application for Android smartphones which is a much lighter and more immediate version of the Google app, the one that allows you to search and use the voice assistant. The new app is called Google Go, it weighs only 7 MB, and not only allows you to access internet searches and the most relevant facts of the day with a single touch, but also includes some very useful tools such as the one to launch Google Lens and, above all, the audio player of content on websites.
The Google Go app for Android is therefore a web browser with which you can browse the internet and search websites, images, videos and news of the day faster than you can normally do with Chrome and also with the same Google app. The main difference with the latter is the ability to work even with a very slow or very weak data connection. For the rest it is exactly identical with all the functions included, except only the voice function Ok Google . Those who never use Ok Google, could safely uninstall the Google app and keep only Google Go.
Google Go is also more accurate and easier to use than the Google app, with all the functions accessible via buttons on its main page. You can therefore start a normal search by opening the websites directly within Google Go or search for images, videos on Youtube or animated GIFs. The search for images and GIFs recommends some search categories to immediately find funny, love images, backgrounds, motivational images or other.
Voice search allows you to open the voice assistant, to open applications or search by voice without typing on the keyboard.
The Discover button opens the section which is called Discover in the Google app, which allows you to discover the news of the day, customized according to the interests detected while browsing the internet.
The Lens button opens the Google Lens app, the one that allows you to search for meanings, translations and information on what is framed by the camera.
The lower section of the main Google Go screen lists the Apps, which are not the apps installed on the phone, but some of the most popular sites, divided into categories such as social networks, entertainment, news and so on. Each site opened via Google Go can be added to this list of favorites by pressing the button at the bottom with three lines and then selecting the option to add to the Home screen.
The two most interesting functions of Google Go are within the integrated web browser .
The first is to compress web pages to save traffic data . in the app options accessible from the gear button, you can activate Lite mode under the Data section to see simplified web pages. When you open a site in Lite mode, at the top appears the word LITE and an X button that allows you to deactivate the saving mode. In some cases, in fact, sites opened with Lite mode may load badly or not be visible.
The other useful feature of Google Go is reading the web pages verbally . For example, opening this article you can press the Play button at the bottom to listen to the reading by voice, which follows the punctuation and uses a very natural speech synthesizer.
Google Go is just one of Google's various lite apps, among which we certainly remember Maps Go to quickly open the directions and Gallery Go, a light version of Google Photos that works very well to see the gallery photos on Android.
