Eliminate Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and Android system apps

The manufacturers of Android smartphones, especially Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi, customize the operating system, also filling it with non-removable applications, which always remain active in memory and slow down the performance of the mobile phone after a while. Most of the time they are not very useful applications or in any case they are not the best for that genre. These pre-installed system apps are also called " bloatware ", and are often the discriminating factor with which users choose one manufacturer instead of another.
If we have a new smartphone in our hands and we stumbled upon bloatware, in this guide we will show you how to eliminate unnecessary system apps on Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and all Android smartphones, so as to recover some space in the internal memory and improve device performance.

How to delete unnecessary system apps on Android

Eliminating this type of app is not easy, since they are recognized as system apps and as such are not removable by the user (they are an integral part of the operating system, therefore they can be "officially" removed only with a targeted manufacturer update). Fortunately, the Android world offers various opportunities, especially for the most savvy users! Below we have collected all the valid methods that we can use to remove useless apps from our Android device.

Permanently remove apps

To permanently remove the bloatware apps from our Android smartphone, we must first unlock the root permissions, a fundamental step in order to obtain the necessary permissions to remove the useless apps.
Note : unlocking root permissions invalidates the product warranty and can lead to serious damage to the device, so let's use them only if aware of the risk.
Once root permissions are unlocked on our Android device, we can use a free app like System app remover.

Once the app is installed, open it, provide root permissions when required, select the system apps to be removed from the list then tap at the bottom on the Uninstall button. The app will start its uninstallation procedure, after which it is always preferable to restart the device. There are several apps that can uninstall system apps with root permissions, below we have listed the best alternatives:
  1. Titanium Backup
  2. Root Uninstaller
  3. Root Uninstaller Pro

We have seen another way to eliminate system apps in the guide to remove pre-installed apps without root on Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi, with a fairly simple procedure, from a computer.

Disable system apps without root

If we cannot or do not want to unlock root permissions on our Android device, we will not be able to physically uninstall the system apps but we will be able to disable them and prevent them from starting with the system.
To disable a system app, open the Settings app, go to the App or Applications menu, identify the useless system app, open it, tap on Uninstall updates and finally select the End button (or Force Stop ) and the Disable button.

We confirm on the warning window that will appear, so as to completely turn off the useless system app. The disabled app will no longer appear together with the other apps, will no longer be updated and will not automatically start when the device is started or restarted.
If we use a Xiaomi smartphone, we recommend that you also try the Redmi System manager app, which works without root and allows you to disable the system apps blocked by Xiaomi (therefore not deactivable from the Settings ).

Hide system apps

If neither of the two methods shown above worked on our device, we can adopt a more "soft" strategy, which involves disabling updates for system apps and subsequent removal from the list of apps, so as to be invisible (unfortunately will always be present in memory, we will have to make a reason).
First we open the Google Play Store app, we search for the system app among those installed on the device, we tap at the top right on the three dots (in the presentation screen of the app) then we remove the check mark from the item Updates automatic .

Now we install on our system a new launcher capable of hiding apps (such as Nova Launcher).

On the new launcher we can choose which apps to show and which apps to hide in the app menu, so as not to no longer see the bloatware present in the system.

Use a Custom ROM

A drastic remedy to the problem of non-removable system apps involves the use of a Custom ROM, which will replace the official ROM of the manufacturer by eliminating all the bloatware present on it.

With the new ROM we will get a faster system, without unwanted apps and with support for updates (very useful on devices not updated by the manufacturer and stuck to an old version of Android).
To learn more, we recommend reading our guides on How to unlock the Android Bootloader, How to install an Android Custom ROM and finally the Best Android Custom ROM versions for each smartphone .

Conclusions

Eliminating unnecessary or unnecessary system apps is possible, but to obtain a lasting result we will have to hack around with the phone and lose the warranty on the product (with root permissions and the Custom ROM). If we want to maintain the guarantee, we can both disable the apps (on the systems that allow it) and apply a simple graphic trick, which makes the apps disappear from the list (with an alternative launcher).
If we need to speed up an old Android smartphone or tablet, we can read all the suggestions in the two guides on How to speed up Android on each smartphone and Optimize slow smartphone or old tablet, so that you can get a fast and functional device.
If, on the other hand, we have problems with the system apps and we do not know how to solve, a reset of the device is advisable, as shown in our guide to Reset and restore Android even if the mobile phone or tablet does not start .
