ADSL and Fiber internet coverage for TIM, Fastweb and other operators

When you move house, when you move to another city or town or simply to change and have a better offer, you must first check which ADSL internet providers reach our home. The good thing is that, in addition to Telecom, there are many other companies that provide subscription contracts to have internet at home.
The negative fact is that the telephone network is all of Telecom (in reality today it belongs to the Spanish), which is the worst network in Europe and which has very partial coverage.
It is therefore worth checking the internet coverage (ADSL or Fiber) of the fixed network in Italy for the various Italian ADSL operators : Telecom, Fastweb, TeleTu, Infostrada, Tiscali and Vodafone .

First of all there is a site, Irideos.it that can tell us if our telephone number is covered by Fiber or has availability for ADSL connection in general, at least with an operator (which is always Telecom by default).
For Fiber, you can also see the Fibermap website and check the situation in each Italian region.

1) TIM (Telecom) coverage

A person who enters to live in a new house, the first thing he must do is to check on the Telecom site if the condominium or home is covered by the network, that is, if, physically, the house is connected with a cable to the control unit. In addition to this, it is necessary that this plant is not too old and not full, which often happens outside the city, where there is a low population density.
To check Telecom coverage, just go to this page of the site and write the address. The system will check both the normal ADSL internet coverage and the possibility of connecting in fiber and having super fast internet. There is no need to provide a phone number for this verification.
If the verification is successful, you can continue reading here, otherwise, if there is no Telecom coverage and there is no telephone connection, you must find an ADSL internet subscription without Telecom .
Also for the verification of coverage with TIM or Telecom there is also a new tool on this page wholesale.telecomitalia.com/it/coperture-geografiche.
In particular, you can click on Bitstream to check the current and future ADSL coverage, then Bitstream NGA and VULA to find the coverage of the FTTC and FTTH optical fiber.
With Telecom you can also take the LIDO test, of the salability of the ADSL (no longer available), a page reserved for operators, but public, to see if a home is reached by an XDSL or FTTCab connection .
To check the coverage of Telecom's optical fiber, in the Lido FTTCab test try the 30M / 3M FTTC V1 profile lines ”and, if covered with 30 Megabit fiber, also try the 30M / 3M FTTC V2 profile test, to see if the 100 Megabit fiber.

2) Fastweb coverage

If you already had a subscription with Telecom and / or after having ascertained that you can have a possible internet connection, you can start choosing the operator. Telecom has the advantage of having full control of the line and, therefore, of generally offering faster and more punctual assistance. However, you can choose Fastweb to have some advantages in the speed of internet downloads.
As speed, Fastweb and Telecom are now practically on par, only that with Fastweb you can use the Emule Meeting program to download anything at maximum speed. To check the coverage of Fastweb, you can open the official website page and enter the home address (after opening the page, if it gives an error, reload it)
If you receive the message " Congratulations, your home is reached by the FASTWEB network " then you use the ULL network, if instead it says " your home is reached by the ADSL network " then it is the Wholesale network .
PLEASE NOTE : The difference between ULL and Wholesale is as follows: with ULL, the telephone operator rents the network from Telecom and uses it as its own giving maximum speed. In the case of Wholesale, on the other hand, the operator takes out a Telecom subscription as if it were an intermediary. The result in the first case is an efficient network while in the second case, an internet connection is obtained at a lower price than that of Telecom, but with less precedence in assistance and troubleshooting (given that the request goes around the customer- > intermediario-> telecom). Personally I do not recommend the use of an operator other than Telecom if it is not in ULL.
For the precise and unequivocal verification of the exact coverage of the network at home and to know if there is optical fiber, if it is ULL, if there is VDSL, you can use the page of commercial operators and agencies that is freely available at this link //fastweb.it/AVT/ and which gives a clear and very detailed result on the type of line that you can install in your building or condominium or home.

3) Infostrada coverage

You can choose Infostrada to save something on your bill and still have a fast internet connection.
Also in this case you can have a ULL or Wholesale connection and the internet coverage page can give this indication by signaling to the user that it is not covered by the Infostrada network.

4) Tiscali coverage

As with Infostrada, coverage can be checked with Tiscali if you like the offers of this ADSL operator. If you are not covered by the ULL network, you will receive a message saying that for technical and commercial problems you can only have an ADSL line with a maximum speed of 7 Mega which is a Telecom Wholesale.

5) Vodafone fixed network coverage

Vodafone, in addition to being a telephone and mobile internet operator, also provides ADSL internet from the fixed network.
Vodafone, compared to others, does not let you know, on the verification page, if the connection is ULL or Wholesale before subscribing to the subscription.
Finally, it should also be noted that the verification of online coverage is not 100% accurate and is not guaranteed, only after having started the subscription procedure will you be able to have the true confirmation. I would also like to point out that it is almost useless to ask Fastweb, Telecom or other operators for coverage, unless they are really hooked up, they will always say they provide a super fast network, without ever mentioning the difference between ULL and Wholesale .
