Business cards are essential both for those who work as independent professionals and for those who carry out jobs in close contact with the public (doctors, lawyers etc.), so as to quickly leave contact details and addresses where they can be contacted. The business card today is something that costs very little and that can be created directly at home, in a personalized way, using a computer.
There are many programs to create business cards on the PC, but the most popular one that we can easily find on almost all computers is Microsoft Word.
In Word there are models obtained online by Microsoft servers to make business cards, of which you only need to modify the content.
Using a Word template it is possible to create and print business cards "on the fly", customizing them according to the occasion and ready to be printed.

1) Business cards on Word
If we have not yet installed Word on our PC, we can retrieve the latest version of the Office office suite (in which Word is contained) by clicking here -> Microsoft Office .
Obviously during the installation we will be asked for the license key to take advantage of all the programs included; Office is paid and costs in the basic version € 149, wanting to buy a single license without subscriptions; we can compare the versions available for purchase from here -> Buy Office .
Once downloaded and installed correctly on our PC, just search for Microsoft Word in the Start menu to open the right program.
To download the business card templates in Word just open the program, click on the top of the search bar and type Business cards .
After opening a business card template, you will notice that it is replicated 10 times on a sheet (for printing).
Each text box can be modified as you wish, filling in the fields and writing name, surname, telephone number, profession and so on.
You will notice that the model indicates which information must go in each text box, so as to guide the user to the correct compilation.
Once you finish writing the first one, all the others will be changed automatically.
The convenient thing about Word is that you can choose the number of business cards to print, simply by replicating the table on the first page (with the copy and paste).
Thus, it is not necessary to make 500 all the same but you can make 5 series of 100, each with different information.
2) Business cards on LibreOffice
If we cannot spend € 149 on the Office license right now, we can still use a free office suite like LibreOffice, which also offers templates for making business cards.
We can download without license and without spending a euro (also for Mac and Linux) LibreOffice using the link here -> LibreOffice .
Once downloaded and installed on the PC, all we have to do is open the Writer program (the free counterpart of Word), then click on the top left on File -> New and click on the item Templates.
A window will open where we can choose the Business card model with logo to have a base where you can create your own business card.
We can modify every field, every line and even the logo used so that we can create the tickets without any problem.
To synchronize all the tickets, click on Synchronize labels to propagate the changes to the tickets on the sheet.
If we want to create a card from scratch by also deciding the shape, the outlines and the words to be used, we can also create an empty template by clicking on New -> Business cards and setting the various parameters that will be offered by the program.
We will certainly have to commit a bit more than the beautiful and ready templates offered by Word (which also has different themes to be exploited for business cards), but being all free we certainly cannot complain!
3) Sites for creating or downloading business card templates online
A possible objection to these business card templates is that because Word or LibreOffice are widely used, there is a risk of having a business card identical or similar to that of many others.
Basically, the design cannot be modified, therefore it risks not being original and confusing.
For this reason, several other business card templates can be used by downloading the images from the Free Business Card Templates website .

At this point, you can open Word or Writer, insert the image on the sheet and write on it by inserting text boxes (better to use tables) of variable size (the procedure to create a new Word template is rather laborious and can be the subject of a future article).
You can also use PowerPoint to design your own business card starting from an image or you can use the online tool Fotor to make changes to the models downloaded from the site, so as to create your own unique and original business card.
