How to record phone calls on iPhone

Recording a phone call could prove very useful in all situations where we need to obtain concrete proof of the call made, such as when we contact the operator's assistance to solve a problem or to ask for information on a utility bill. The law in this sense allows you to record any call without problems even without notifying the interlocutor (when he starts the call and agrees to speak, he has given implicit consent to registration), just do not make the recordings public (except in cases in which they should serve in some trial or investigation).
While on Android there are really many apps in this sense (with recording features often integrated into the system), on iPhone we will have to use a third-party app to record phone calls.
In this guide we have collected all the apps to record phone calls on the iPhone, so that we can collect actual evidence of the call made. If you are not satisfied with the recommended apps, in a dedicated chapter we will show you how to use an external voice recorder to record phone calls.

How to record phone calls on iPhone

The first method that we can use to record phone calls on the iPhone involves the use of third-party apps dedicated to the purpose. Some of them are free, while others require the payment of a subscription fee in order to be used beyond the trial period.

TapeACall

The first app we recommend you try is TapeACall.

With this app installed on the iPhone we will be able to record the call by "inviting" the service to the conversation, so that we can record the whole conversation using the conference mode available with some mobile operators (Vodafone does not currently support this type of calls ). TapeACall in Lite version offers all the features without limits for 7 days, to record and play all the calls; at the end of the trial period we will have to sign up for a monthly subscription in order to continue recording calls on our iPhone.

Call Recorder Recording-ReCall

Another very effective app for recording calls on iPhone is Call Recorder Recording-ReCall.

The app looks like a real separate dialer from which we can make any call, benefiting from automatic registration as soon as the interlocutor answers it. In order to make calls we will have to take advantage of one of the monthly subscriptions that can be purchased from the app itself; but to test the functionality we can benefit from a 3-day trial period, so that we can verify the correct functioning of the registration.

Recording of TeleStar calls

Another useful app for recording phone calls on iPhone without limits is the Recording of TeleStar calls.

The app works in a similar way to that seen a moment ago: we will have a dedicated dialer from which we can make any call and start recording. In order to record the calls, we will have to subscribe to a monthly subscription or purchase phone credits, as well as having an operator who supports the conference call (since the app actually acts as the third party in the call).

Use a voice recorder

If the apps we have reported to you are not for us or we want to avoid having to spend money on a monthly subscription or on phone credits, we can record any phone call in the "old way", using a digital voice recorder .

The best voice recorders that we recommend you purchase for the purpose are as follows:
  1. Digital Voice Recorder, ADOKEY 8GB HD Portable Audio (29 €)
  2. CODAU Digital Voice Recorder, Portable 8GB USB 1536kbps (29 €)
  3. Portable Voice Recorder, SKEY 8GB HD (29 €)
  4. Sony ICDPX240.CE7 Digital Voice Recorder (35 €)
Once purchased the voice recorder that best suits our needs, let's position it near our iPhone (less than 2 cm away), start the call to be recorded, press the Speakerphone button on the dialer screen that will open, raise the volume of the 'speaker (using the Volume Up button on the side) and we activate the recorder by pressing the red Rec button on it.

At the end of the call, we tap the End call button on the iPhone and end the recording on the recorder by pressing the Rec key or the Stop key again (depending on the model chosen). The voice recorder will save the recording in its internal memory in a convenient audio file that has the recording date and time as its name, so that it can be easily recovered once the device is connected to any PC. Of course, we can also listen to the recording immediately using the navigation and playback buttons on the recorder.
Using a digital audio recorder we will be able to record the phone call on the iPhone with good quality, without having to pay any subscription and without using dedicated dialer apps.
The only technological alternative to the digital voice recorder involves the use of a pair of earphones with a recorder included, such as those visible here -> Waytronic - Telephone call recorder for iPhone (76 €).

By connecting the Audio Jack adapter to the Lightning port of our iPhone and connecting these earphones to it we will be able to listen to any phone call and record at the same time, simply by pressing a button on the small recorder directly on the wire.

Conclusions

As we have seen, several methods are available for recording phone calls on the iPhone, many of which require a one-off fee or the subscription of a subscription in order to take advantage of the iPhone-compatible recording apps. We advise you to use the voice recorder with the iPhone in speakerphone when we need to save the call made, so as to always obtain good quality and limit the expense to a single product for the purpose.
