How to make a site yourself, professional or personal, for free

Creating a personal or professional website yourself and for free does not require having a lot of technical knowledge of codes, but only a few hours of time and a minimum of ability to move around with the multiple option menus.
It is clear that those who do not even know how to make a Powerpoint presentation, if they want a site, it would be better not to waste time and pay someone immediately.
For those who know how to untangle a bit, for those who are not frightened by some writing in English and for those who want easy and free, but quality things, there are really good alternatives to try, among which you will surely find the solution.
Before talking about how to make a personal site yourself, we need to point out a general concept valid for everyone.
Each platform that promises to create a free site has it published with a third level domain and instead asks to pay a fee, usually by subscription, in order to publish the site with a personal domain such as www.pomhey.com .
A second level domain is always paid and it is never free.
It is obvious that having a personal domain is better for visibility and it is an obligatory step for all professionals to present themselves well.
The free site without domain can still be convenient for those who want to make an amateur blog, for those who want to publish photos and images, for those who want a diary of thoughts or for those who want a parallel site connected to the main one.
Depending on the platform, it is possible to use the second-level web domain already purchased, although not everyone does.
To make a personal and professional site on your own there are many alternative platforms that promise to create it for free, always keeping in mind that to have the second level domain you still need to pay.
1) Wordpress.com
As already explained some time ago, Registering and starting a blog with Wordpress.com is free as long as you don't want a nicer graphic template and personal domain.
Wordpress.com is all in Italian, it is really easy to use with a series of menus that are also difficult to make mistakes and, above all, it allows you to publish websites already optimized for SEO, that is, to get on the Google search engine.
Wordpress.com has the only flaw of becoming a little expensive (we are still talking about figures less than 100 Euros per year) if you want something more than the minimum standard offered.
Wordpress, for its unique flexibility, can be used not only to create a blog but also a normal quality static site.
2) Blogger.com
Blogger is Google's blog platform, very old, very powerful, customizable and, above all, totally free.
You can also buy a domain with an external service and connect it to the Blogger blog, always for free and without limitations even if you receive a million visits a day.
The problem with Blogger is its difficulty of use if you want to move something or if you want to modify a ready-made template.
Compared to Wordpress.com, speaking of advanced use, Blogger is certainly more complicated and not at all user friendly therefore it requires more work time.
3) Medium
Among the best alternatives to Blogger and Wordpress are Tumblr, suitable for publishing images and above all Medium, a free platform created by the founder of Twitter, which can be used to have your own personal space in which to write things freely.
Medium is like a showcase on the internet to write freely, it is not a real site, but it works well.
4) Linkedin Pulse
Taking into account that Linkedin is a professional social network, those who want to write serious things and want to receive feedback from people who may have the same type of interest, Linkedin Pulse can be an excellent solution.
The personal professional site is your own Linkedin profile which will also contain our well-formatted curriculum (READ ALSO: How to create a professional profile on Linkedin).
The blog can be linked to the profile with Linkedin Pulse, publishing articles complete with the same images that become visible from all contacts and also publicly.
To use Pulse on Linkedin, for now, however, you need to go to your account settings (from the profile photo at the top right) and change the language from Italian to English.
At that point, in publishing a new state, you can choose to publish a post on Pulse.
Linkedin posts are indexed by Google and are very visible with excellent authority.
5) Flavors.me
This is one of the easiest sites to use to create a static personal site that shows who we are to those who search us on the internet.
Instead of bringing contacts to the Facebook profile, a modern and optimized page is also published for mobile viewing, creating a site as a virtual business card (I have already talked about it so I will not dwell on it).
6) Adobe Spark
This free Adobe web application is one of the best releases of 2016, already reported in a dedicated article, which allows you to publish posts, videos and magazine covers to then be able to share them on social media.
Everything works online and it's free.
It is not a way to make a site, but only to publish personal projects that can be summarized on a page made of text, images and, if you wish, also videos.
7) Neocities to open an anonymous and fast blog site is a free non-profit and ad-free platform, really convenient and easy to use, also excellent for learning.
8) The best sites to create a site for free without using HTML code
Of these sites, all in Italian, I have already spoken extensively in another article of this constantly updated blog so I do not want to repeat myself and briefly report the names of the now famous and excellent platforms for creating sites.
In this case you go on the safe side and you can really make a complete site with all the pages you want, with personalized graphics, the name, the title, the SEO support, the animations, the videos, the photos and all that you want, both for those who want a personal site and for those who want a professional one.
They are the magnificent 5:
- Weebly to build a free full site without limitations
- Webnode to make a site yourself
- Wix, to make an HTML5 animated site
- Jimdo to open a personalized website
As mentioned above, a little patience, a few hours of time and the ability to move between the various menus will be enough to make yourself any personal or professional site for free, if only paying for the domain or more if you want to make a small investment, today more than necessary.
