How and where to report abuse and report abuse on Facebook

Facebook, with nearly one billion people registered worldwide, has become the third largest country in the world after China and India. It is therefore natural that there are many and different types of users: young and old, graduates and students, doctors and workers and so on. With so much variety and ease of communication, anything can happen: people who use bad taste images, users who annoy other subscribers with repeated messages, more or less vulgar insults, jokes and mockery of someone, cyber-bullying and much else.
In addition to this, you can find pages and groups dedicated to events, to people or organizations that are illegal or not exactly deserving and, vice versa, there can be pages against someone or something. Then there will be those who take offense or fear for nothing and those who do not worry about anything and take everything with a smile.
In any case, Facebook allows you to report and report any type of abuse of the rules or illegal behavior .
In the event of proven infringement, Facebook can decide to ban an account and delete the page or profile that is in "contravention".
In a summary article I had described, in a nutshell, what is allowed and what is not on Facebook and other social networks.
The problem is that Facebook, with all the people who use it, receives hundreds of reports every day and, very often, these complaints are based on nothing or on trivial reasons.
There are users who report any small insult, girls or boys who feel struck by stalking for a couple of messages more than they should, some who try to ban their schoolmate with untrustworthy pretexts, others who are very sensitive to issues politicians, religious and social and find it offensive that someone thinks differently and so on. Precisely for this reason Facebook cannot guarantee an answer to everyone even if it promises to examine every single case. So let's see the tools you have to report violations and what consequences complaints can have .
1) Delete from the friends list and block a user .
If the person you want to report is on my list of friends, in addition to raising your friendship, you can block it so that it can no longer send me messages and try to add me. Blocking someone prevents me from seeing my updates and prevents me from seeing his. They won't be able to contact me again unless the block is removed.
The fact remains that it is always possible to change the privacy settings to decide who can see my updates, if only friends, friends of friends or all (see guide to the Privacy and visibility settings on Facebook).
2) Identify the type of abuse
Facebook has a Policy page which can be accessed at any time by pressing the Alt-9 key combination.
In the "Community Stardard " section you can find information on those behaviors considered illegal and serious that cause the ban and exclusion of a user from the social network. Beyond any judgment, no one can be threatened on Facebook in a violent way, one cannot speak of self-harm, one cannot steal an identity or an intellectual property, one cannot incite hatred and one cannot publish photos of nudes and, of course, adult content.
In all these cases, the report is taken seriously by Facebook even if, as the guide to reporting violations writes, " something that appears unacceptable or annoying to your eyes is not necessarily removed or blocked according to Facebook's criteria ".
3) Report abuse
The violations page contains all the links to report any type of abuse or illegal activity. Buttons for reporting inappropriate content are always visible on the site.
On the friends' timeline, by hovering over a status update or on a photo, you can press the X to report a problem.
For each page or profile, the wheel button (next to Send a message) can be pressed to report something wrong or, simply, to block that person.
Among the reasons for reporting abuse, there may also be that of account theft and that of a fake profile (in Facebook you cannot pretend to be someone else) in addition to other reasons such as harassment and insults. In the photos, the reporting link is visible in the options menu. To accompany the reports you can take a screenshot to be sent in the form, to prove the offense.
4) If you can no longer enter Facebook or if you are not really registered, there is a page to report abuse from outside to report account theft, fake identities, unauthorized photos and violated rights.
Facebook does not guarantee that the reporting of a profile (diary), a group, a Page or other contents will be removed. They promise that they will review the report and check for possible abuse. If they believe that the content is in violation of the terms, it will be removed, and in some particularly serious cases, the responsible person may also be reported to the authorities . A person who is reported will never be told the name of the person who reported them.
