How to look for work on Linkedin and find or change jobs

Eventually, even in Italy the serious social network dedicated to work LinkedIn has become one of the largest sites (perhaps even the most important) to search, find or change jobs .
Yet many people still forget to sign up or update their profile on Linkedin, probably because they don't know how to use it and they don't know its enormous potential.
In times of crisis, losing an opportunity like Linkedin is really a mortal sin, so it is good to start learning to use the tool, sign up and try to promote yourself for a job suitable for your skills and experiences.
LinkedIn is the ideal place to get in touch with professionals from all over the world, starting with the people who know each other in real life.
Colleagues and former colleagues are added by schoolmates and university students, and the network is expanded by meeting new people through existing contacts, to create relationships that can, in the future, be transformed into something true as a job opportunity.
After writing the guide to Linkedin to register, take care of the job profile and connect to companies, let's now see some of the ways with which the social network LinkedIn can help to search for the next job .
1) First of all you need to have a solid profile, which is complete in its main sections.
Filling out all the fields of the Profile / Curriculum is really the first step to being successful on LinkedIn, because the profile is the way you introduce yourself to others.
Unless there is something you really can't write about (if you don't have certifications it's not that you have to invent them), you should fill the whole LinkedIn profile in every aspect and section.
In this website, the profile is like a growing curriculum vitae, with the continuous addition of new things.
When filling in the profile, it is highly recommended to pay more attention to the initial summary which is the always public card that appears if you open a person's profile page.
In the summary, under the name, write immediately if you are looking for work and in which sector so as to immediately attract the attention of any recruiters.
Useless, unless you want to go to work abroad, write the profile in English as many have done in the past (more to do scene than anything else).
The Linkedin profile can be converted into a Curriculum Vitae to be printed using some tools already described in another post.
2) Uploading a professional photo is important to present yourself well and, in Linkedin, before adding a photo to your profile you have to ask yourself: I would go to the job interview like this "> Customize the URL of your public profile".
5) Add professional contacts
LinkedIn makes it easy to connect with people you already know.
Contacts can be found by importing Email Gmail, Yahoo Mail hotmail or other services.
You can also search for a known person in LinkedIn's internal search engine and the system will ask if it is a colleague, a former colleague, a schoolmate etc.
LinkedIn's real power comes from expanding your contact network and you can invite other people to join your network via private invitations or messages.
Invitations can be sent to friends of contacts already added and it is the easiest and least intrusive method.
The friend in common allows you to get in touch with other people quickly, even if you have to be careful not to abuse the Invitations and not be reported as "annoying user".
In addition, LinkedIn himself suggests adding people you may know in a box that appears each time you log in.
To contact people you don't know, with whom you have no relationship, the InMail message tool is available that allows you to introduce yourself to someone and is a prerequisite before you can ask for a direct connection.
6) Use the network asking for advice and keeping them informed
The network of contacts can be useful for receiving suggestions from the links.
The tips are like a letter of recommendation and are word of mouth for this particular social network.
This is not a "like" but just a sharing of the business card which is also a way of advertising for free.
Asking for recommendations is entirely legitimate and, for some time now, contacts have also been able to confirm their professional skills and competences.
In each profile the professional skills and experiences are marked and the contacts of a person can freely confirm these skills by pressing the + button.
Obviously it becomes a "do ut des" system, so if I confirm your skills, maybe you will remember to go to me and confirm mine, thus creating a virtuous circle of self-promotion.
We certainly think about large numbers and, even if the confirmations are less powerful than the recommendations, an employer can be more attracted to a candidate with the sought-after competence confirmed by more than 50 people.
Keeping your connections informed is another great way to help you find a job.
Often we only think about sharing our professional successes and the positive results obtained, but we shouldn't be ashamed to share publicly the fact that we are looking for work and new professional opportunities in a certain sector.
Without sending e-mails to everyone, just by publishing a status update to ask for attention, help, advice or news regarding possible vacancies.
In a sense, this system is almost better than phoning your friend to ask him to introduce himself to the head of his company.
7) Use LinkedIn to look for work
LinkedIn could not become the world job search site without a page dedicated to job vacancies.
The job offers page is full of opportunities, with the presence of the main companies.
Not only can you use this page to search for jobs, but LinkedIn also shows possible occupations that you may be interested in based on your profile and your network of connections.
The advanced search in LinkedIn is another excellent feature that allows you to be more specific or more general in the search.
There is an advanced search option on the right on the LinkedIn Job page, but you can also use the search field in the center of the black bar at the top.
From this search bar you can search for people, updates, jobs, companies, inboxes and groups.
The advanced search function works only for people and work.
8) Save job searches and offers on LinkedIn
Each job search can be saved so that it can be repeated daily and also offers from specific companies can be saved.
9) Participating in discussion groups regarding your interests, based on the career path you want to undertake, can provide new ideas, stay updated on possible opportunities and meet people who work in the same field who have your same interests and skills.
To do this, click on the Groups section and look for the appropriate ones.
Finally, by inviting you to share your impressions and experiences with the job search on Linkedin, I still remember reading the guide to Linkedin which explains the various sections, the functioning of the recommendations and the upgrades of paid business profiles.
