How to delete Alexa and Google Assistant voice recordings

Voice assistants are one of the most popular technological innovations in recent years, since we can use them both on smartphones and via smart speakers, ready to pick up all our voice commands without having to press anything. In order to perform their task, especially when we use speakers, the microphone must always remain on, so that we can grasp the " OK Google " or "Hey, Alexa" command when spoken by our voice.
But what happens when we don't use voice commands "> Alexa or Google Home? Comparison between better and smart Smart Speakers

1) Delete voice commands from Google Assistant

To check the recordings and delete those relating to a specific period or delete all recordings, we turn on a PC, open any web browser (Chrome, Edge etc.) and go to the Google account management page, reachable from here -> Google account.
Enter the login credentials of the Google account used for the voice assistant and, on the page that appears, click on Data and personalization, present on the left bar.
In the new page that will open we click on the Voice and audio activity item, and then on Manage history .
From this page we will be able to see all the recordings captured by the smartphone and by a possible Google Home speaker; to delete one or more recordings just click on the three dots next to a specific date or a recording and use the Delete button.
To make a complete cancellation, click on Delete activity for present on the left side, select Always in the drop-down menu that will appear, then indicate today's date in the Before field.

We click the Delete button below and confirm the deletion, so we can delete all the recordings saved on Google servers.
If we want to proceed with the cancellation of the registrations from Android smartphones (in which the account from which to cancel the registrations is associated) or from the Google app of iOS, we open the Google app and select Google Account in the upper right corner.
From the menu that opens, go to the Data and personalization tab, then select Voice and audio activity in the Activity management section.
In the new screen that appears we start Manage history, then select Filter by date ; by filtering the elements (as already seen on PC) it will be possible to cancel any previous registration to today's date.
If we do not yet know the features of Google Home, we can remedy immediately by reading our guide what Google Home can do: voice assistant, music and home automation, in which we show you the features related to home automation and interactive Web services that you can take advantage of with one Google speaker.

2) Delete voice commands from Amazon Alexa

If we use an Amazon Echo speaker or the Amazon Alexa app on the smartphone, we can delete all the history of the voice recordings by going to the Alexa privacy web page available here -> Alexa Privacy.
We will be asked for the login credentials to the Amazon account, in case the browser does not already have access configured; once the credentials have been entered, click on Review entry history and select, in the drop-down menu Date range, the entry Entire history .
The entry Delete appears all the recordings for the entire history, so as to delete all the recordings made with the Alexa voice assistant in one shot.

If, on the other hand, you want to delete only a part of the registrations or only those of a certain period of time, just change the indication in the Date range drop-down menu (so you can only delete the registrations of a day or a month; to cancel a single registration we open the one relating to the record to be deleted (by clicking on the arrowhead button) and select the Delete registration item.

Delete the Alexa history from your smartphone "> Alexa app for Android and for iPhone, then we tap on the top left of the icon in the side menu, go to Settings and then in Account Alexa .
In the new screen we can use the drop-down menu Filter by date, so as to restrict the dates on which we want to cancel; as soon as the recordings are visible, we tap on them and select the Delete voice recording button, so as to eliminate any compromising recordings or with too personal content.
Unfortunately, from mobile it is not possible to completely delete all recordings: if this is our goal, it is better to proceed as seen from a PC where everything is extremely simpler, since just one click is enough.

Delete voice recordings from Amazon Echo

Recently it has also been possible to cancel the voice recordings of the requests made to Alexa using a voice command, saying to the Amazon Echo the order Forget .
With the phrase " Alexa, delete what I just said " you can delete the last voice command said, while with the phrase " Alexa, delete everything I said today " you can delete the recordings of the whole day.
To use this function, however, it is necessary to activate, in the Alexa history settings, " Enable the deletion by voice command "
