Secret and untraceable chats with Signal on Android, iPhone and Web

Recent news tells us something that, after all, could already be suspected for some time and which therefore does not leave us surprised much.
This time it's the iPhone's iMessage app, which was discovered to be a chat tracked by Apple that keeps the history of all conversations to provide it to the police when requested.
The conversations in iMessage are encrypted end-to-end and therefore not accessible to Apple which, however, keeps them for 30 days during which the police can request access to them and find out times and participants in the conversation.
Basically the content of the messages remains secret, but the police can still know who we were talking to and at what time.
Now we have nothing to hide from the Italian authorities or from other governments, so this type of possible intrusion should not worry us much if it were not for a matter of principle and freedom which may be important for someone.
It is never possible that every communication software tool that we use online must be tracked by someone and that the messages I send using an internet connection can be intercepted or traced "> TOR browser, to send messages privately and with 100% security ( let's make 99.9%) that the chat is secret for anyone else without leaving any trace, not even when it was used, it takes an app other than the most popular ones.
For PC only, we have already discovered that Tor Messenger can be used for private communications.
But to have a complete secret and protected chat app you need Signal which is currently the safest message and chat application that can be found, with a function similar to that of Whatsapp, but whose communications cannot be intercepted or tracked by anyone, not even the police, the CIA or other government authorities.
Signal Private Messenger can be downloaded for Android and for iPhone and can also be used from the PC via the Chrome app.
This application, which allows you not only to send messages, but also to make calls, has all the features of a secure hacker-proof service, even at the highest levels:
- Sending messages is encrypted
- Messages cannot be read even by those working on the application
- Chat contacts are verified
- The communications history is protected
- The code is open source and public
- App security is documented
- The app code has been checked by experts
In reality, Whatsapp also respects these requirements except one in particular, namely the fact of not being open source.
The real problem of Whatsapp, which precisely uses end to end encryption and which allows you to check chat contacts, is that it is owned by Facebook which, as we know well, is certainly not a company that puts user privacy first place.
Worse still, Whatsapp now shares information with Facebook thus becoming anything but secret.
An app that works well in a private and secret way without allowing anyone to track conversations is, of course, Telegram, but only in its secret chat function and not in standard communications.
Using secret chat, Telegram complies with all the requirements seen above and also allows you to automatically delete the messages sent and received once read and to prevent the forwarding of messages to other contacts.
Perhaps Telegram, which is also quite popular and has many more functions, can be the perfect choice for those who want a flexible and secure app, which is also used by many people.
The fact that Signal is still the messaging app recommended by Edward Snowden, the former NSA employee who denounced the entire American espionage system and who can be considered among the top experts in online security and privacy, is however a important factor that makes her prefer over each other.
