GBoard keyboard tricks and functions (Android and iPhone)

With its keyboard for Android smartphones (which you can also have on the iPhone), Google has really done a great job thanks to the ability to integrate useful tools such as internet search and also the translator.
Gboard incorporates all that is expected of a modern keyboard, perfect for being able to write quickly on touchscreen screens, without making mistakes, with the word suggestion and also support for writing by voice and for inserting enoji and symbols.

NOTE: To access the Gboard settings there are two ways: one by touching the Google G, then the three dots button and then the gear button, the other by touching and holding on the comma button and then moving your finger on the gear and releasing.
1) Writing with one hand
Whenever you write a message or any text on Android, just tap the comma key and hold it down to see three other buttons appear.
Then move, without releasing, your finger on the thumb symbol to shrink the keyboard and make it comfortable to use when holding the phone with one hand.
You can also move the keyboard left or right in case you are using your right or left handed hand.
To make the one-hand mode key appear, you can also touch the arrow key at the top left, above the letter q or the number 1 if you are using the row of numbers.
2) Translate while writing
Integrating Google translator into GBoard is a really useful trick, especially if you are sending a message to a person who speaks another language.
Gboard will translate words into English or other languages ​​as you type with the help of Google Translate.
Again, tap the slider in the upper left corner of the Gboard, then tap the Google Translate button.
Then choose which language to translate and start writing.
NOTE: Instead of the tab, on the top left corner, it is nicer to make Google's G appear.
To do this, touch the tab, then touch the gear icon to go to Settings, then go to Search and activate " Show G button ".
3) Display the row of numbers
If you prefer to have the row for writing numbers always visible, you can touch the G or the tab at the top left, go to Settings from the gear button, then go to Preferences and activate the row of numbers.
In this section of options it is also possible to enlarge or reduce the space occupied by the keyboard and deactivate the sounds.
4) Numeric keypad whenever you want

To make a change or correction to an already written word, you could touch at the point to be modified, but it becomes difficult to precisely peck the exact point with your finger.
Much easier, however, tap the space bar, hold and slide your finger left or right to move the cursor backward or forward in the text.
9) Swipe to eliminate
There is no need to touch the Delete key repeatedly to delete a piece of text, just touch the delete key, then hold and slowly swipe from right to left to select the text that will be deleted by releasing your finger.
10) Copy, cut, paste, share, search, translate
Touch on an already written word, then press and hold to highlight and select it and you will notice the buttons to copy, cut and paste.
In this selection mode, you can move the cursors to select more or less words and text.
By pressing the button with three dots next to the Share button, you can also search Google for that word or translate it.

14) Change graphic style
If you don't like the current one, in the GBoard settings you can choose the theme you prefer by using a light or dark one or with an image or a photo as a background.
15) Change languages ​​and use multiple languages ​​on the same keyboard
From the Gboard settings it is possible to add other languages ​​besides Italian, in order to obtain different writing suggestions according to the language used.
In Settings> Dictionary, you can also add a dictionary of words in the added language.
Finally, in the preferences, you can activate the key to quickly change the language on the space bar.
