Go back if you're wrong using your PC (Windows 10 and 7)

When you make a mistake in using your computer, serious problems can also arise, for example because you have accidentally deleted a file or for having installed a program that turned out to be a virus instead.
In this article we try to see some solutions to go back when you are wrong in the use of a PC with Windows 8 or Windows 7 that have within them the suitable tools to deal with emergencies.
When making small or large errors with Windows in many cases you can go back or solve the error with little effort, provided that you can be timely.
1) I was wrong and I accidentally deleted a file
With the new backup feature, Windows 8 automatically creates copies of files and documents.
This function can be activated by looking for the " backup in file history " function in the Start screen settings.
After activating this function, you can restore a deleted file or restore a previous copy of a file modified and saved by mistake.
In Windows 7 you can restore modified or deleted files by opening the restore points and searching for them manually (even in Windows 10 if the file history was not activated).
If you can not use any internal function and you are using a PC with traditional magnetic hard disk, not SSD, you may also be able to restore deleted files with a file recovery program such as Recuva.
However, these programs do not work on solid state disks, because files deleted from SSDs are generally deleted immediately, unless the TRIM function is disabled (which is not recommended).
2) I installed a virus program that freezes my computer and doesn't let me use it.
Viruses do not enter your computer only if you are inattentive or if you do not have an antivirus.
You can be the most prudent people in the world and get, for bad luck or for wrong advice from others, a virus that installs itself in the form of a serious program that to unlock the PC asks the user to pay the developer.
To this problem we have dedicated a specific article that guides you to eliminate the fake antiviruses that infect your PC by taking it hostage
3) I have too many programs that start on their own .
This is a common problem on PCs that have long been used to do multiple different things.
The PC takes a little too long to turn on because it has to automatically load several programs that are not needed.
In Windows 10 it is easy to control these programs by opening the task manager, that is by clicking with the right mouse button on the taskbar at the bottom and clicking on Task Manager .
The Startup tab allows you to disable the processes and programs that you don't need to be active from the moment you turn them on.
With Windows 7, however, an external program is required to manage the startup of the computer .
4) I was wrong to touch some settings and I don't know how to go back.
If you don't remember what was touched or changed, you can reset that option to its previous value using Windows System Restore.
If this does not solve the problem, one of the Microsoft Fix It can be used to correct system errors, depending on the problem.
There is one for each category and, if you want to be ready, you can also download the package all the Microsoft Fix It included.
5) Internet Explorer starts opening advertisements and random sites on its own
In the desktop version of Internet Explorer you can install add-ons or toolbars that change the behavior of the browser.
Fortunately, Internet Explorer can always return to its default state.
To do this, open Internet Explorer, click on the gear icon, select Internet Options> Advanced> Reset .
In other articles the guides for:
- Resolve if Internet Explorer opens advertisements and strange sites
- Reset the browser
6) Some program crashes or goes very slow
Usually, if from time to time a program crashes and stops responding, it is not a user mistake, but a lack of computer resources.
It may happen that another program is running in the background, sucking CPU and memory resources without doing anything, or that the same program is increasing its need for resources progressively.
Then press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open the Task Manager and end the activity that is blocking everything.
In two other articles we explained:
- How to unlock windows if the pc freezes or if the computer goes slow
- How to unlock processes and close activities that occupy all the memory
7) I was wrong to delete a system file
Fortunately, Windows includes a command that allows you to restore missing system files.
Finally, if it becomes too difficult to go back and recover from errors, involuntary mistakes and various problems, remember that it is always possible Ways to repair Windows 10 and create recovery disk or reset Windows by returning to the initial settings.
