Solutions to errors on USB ports and sticks not recognized or impossible to use

Below, a technical article for the solution of a problem that I noticed was quite frequent on PCs with Windows and of which I was also a victim.
The error this time concerns the USB ports and the fact that, by connecting a mass memory such as a USB stick or an external hard disk, it is not recognized and does not work.
Specifically, I found an error on my computer that prevented me from using the Card Reader placed frontally on the computer.
Going from the Start menu to the " Devices and Printers " window, you may find an unknown device.
Right-clicking on the unknown device may cause errors such as:
" The device has reported a problem and has been discontinued (Code 43 )" or " The hardware device could not be used because it was prepared for" Safe Removal ", but was not removed. (Code 47) ".
In addition to the possible solutions, we will see various automatic repair tools, especially useful for restoring USB drivers and making the computer's USB ports work again .

Method 1 : Use the Windows troubleshooter .
Then go to the control panel and search for " Troubleshooting ".
In the troubleshooting, under the heading Hardware and sound, click on Configure a device and follow the guided procedure.
Method 2 : Using Microsoft's Auto Fix can help rule out glaring problems but, almost certainly, if method 1 was unsuccessful, this also won't solve the problem.
The USB troubleshooter is able to diagnose and repair problems with devices that are in use or impossible to use and works with USB audio, storage and printing devices, including USB sticks, USB hard drives and USB printers that do not come ejected using the Safely Remove Hardware dialog box.
Method 3 : Try using another USB port on the same panel and see if it works or not.
On the same panel it means that, if the card reader or a USB stick does not work, try another port next to it.
If one door works and the other does not, the problem is certainly hardware and probably the part will have to be changed.
Method 4 is the removal and uninstallation of drivers for USB devices and USB controllers .
From the Start menu, go to Run or search, write the command " devmgmt.msc " (without the quotation marks) and press Enter .
Device management is also found in the Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right-click on the empty window or from the File menu.
In Device Manager, double-click to expand the items under " Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller " and right-click on all devices, one by one, and uninstall them.
Since it is not known which of them is the USB port that does not work or the card reader, we are obliged to remove all the drivers in full, both the USB host controllers, both the USB devices and the USB root Hub .
Be careful because removing these devices, at some point the mouse will stop working so you will have to move around the menus using only the keyboard and move with the arrows and the TAB and Enter keys.
In the end, restart your computer and leave Windows to automatically reinstall all the drivers from scratch .
To do it first and attempt a driver recovery trying to correct Windows problems, you can use a very interesting automatic tool called MK USB Repair to download on the Softpedia website.
This tool does not require installation, just extract the zip file and launch the .exe file.
Before pressing the large FIX button, select the Reset all usb drivers option which, in fact, will uninstall and reinstall all USB drivers .
Method 5 : The last method is definitive in the sense that if after this operation the USB port or the card reader still does not work and still returns the errors with code 43 or code 47, then it will be necessary to intervene on the computer hardware, trying to detach or reattach the internal cable of the USB port or changing the piece directly.
If even after this operation nothing is resolved and any drive connected to a given USB port remains unknown and does not work, it means that the card reader or the panel with the USB ports has to be changed.
