On the Gaiagi Driver website (link pointed to Rome) the screen is divided into 4 parts and is the synthesis of the most modern maps released to date and illustrated in other articles: Google Earth, Microsoft's Bing Maps 3D, Google Street View and Google Maps in Tuttocittà style.
In the left part of the window you can enter the place of departure and the destination after which you can follow the road simultaneously on 4 windows, both in a three-dimensional way than in the streetview photographic mode and on the whole city.
It is therefore a matter of practically trying a car itinerary using simultaneously the 4 most famous and powerful visualizations present on the internet synchronized with each other Google Earth, Google Street View, Google Maps and Microsoft Bing Maps.
To use Gaiagi Driver, set the desired point from "From" and "To" the desired destination.
After pressing "Go!" the 4 views will update simultaneously to show the route.
At the top left there is the "Start" button with which you can start the itinerary in moviemento.
Pressing "Pause" interrupts the virtual journey and you can use the views by moving on the map and enlarging a selected area; the other 3 will synchronize accordingly and follow the movements.
By pressing the "tour" button at the top left, you can view some preset routes and follow them as if you were really in the car.
We can predict that the future of satellite navigators can develop in this direction.
Another very good 3D driving simulator based on Google Earth was 3D Driving Simulator which no longer exists.
On the Google Maps Street View website (you need to download the streetview_directions.html file) instead there is a complete web application that allows you to choose itineraries on the map and guide them with the car along the real road.
Just put the starting and arrival addresses, set the travel speed and then click on ROute and Drive to see the route just as if you were driving by car, really.
