Group Facebook friends into lists to choose which news to hide and read

Facebook compared to how it started, works well and, although it is not too simple to use for new entrants (who do not read the indispensable guides), it has added many customization options both regarding personal privacy and how to use Facebook.
A major flaw that Facebook has always had has been that of managing contacts and, above all, the news they publish .
Who has 100 friends or 1000 or even 4000, found himself an illegible home page, with news that flow so fast that it is impossible to read those of the closest friends.
In addition, as status updates, photos, videos, links on which you clicked "Like" and also game results appear on the Facebook home, Facebook became unusable as a source of information for your circle of friends.
This problem has finally been overcome thanks to the improvement of the lists of friends that now allow you to group contacts according to interests and to filter the news by their type, hiding those that are not of interest for each list or for each individual person .
Lists of friends have always been the essential prerequisite in Facebook if you want to manage privacy correctly .
In the privacy guide on settings to choose what to show to others, the creation of the lists of friends is the fundamental step.
Now the lists of friends can be created easily thanks to a simpler and faster system (evidently inspired by Google Plus).
In Home, on the left side, as appropriate, the menu is made up of 5 main sections: Favorites, Lists, Pages, Applications, Groups .
Each of these items can be customized by adding and removing elements (just hover over it and click the pencil icon).
The applications, lists, pages and groups on which you click the most are listed are each section with direct and fast links and can be hidden or added to favorites so as to fix them and make them always visible.
By clicking on Lists you access the list of lists created, some of which have been preset by Facebook, ie Family, University, Work, Close friends, Acquaintances and " With restrictions ".
The "With Restrictions" list allows you to hide non-public posts from the people included, without them knowing anything.
In this way, given that raising friendships is always rude, you can hide people you don't care about what they do and what they post.
The list of close friends instead has one more option, that of choosing to receive the notification on Facebook or via Email when one of the closest friends publishes something .
Existing lists can be edited or new lists can be created by simply clicking the button at the top right and selecting friends from the interface.
For each list selected, the " Manage List " button appears at the top right and you can choose which types of updates to read for friends in that list .
You can therefore hide the types of news that are not of interest among various types: Status Updates, Photos and Videos, Games, Comments to "Likes" and Other .
So, you can create a list of close friends to read all the news, of work colleagues only status updates and not photos and videos or games, a group of friends of games, one to share blog or current affairs news ( so no photos) and so on.
Lists are also important in the management of privacy because, by going to the settings from the menu at the top right, in each section you can choose " Personalized " visibility, write the name of the list and show certain things only to contacts grouped in the same group .
From now, on the personal profile of friends and on one's own, a new button appears indicating the list of Friends in which it is located and from the drop-down menu it can be assigned to other lists or to new lists.
The " Receive updates " button is used to make the selection of news to be read and hidden for the individual person and is the same button visible on the profile of some "non-friends" so as to follow them even without creating a friendship relationship (see how to activate the "Receive updates" button for everyone ).
So if you want to hide the friend who publishes too many useless things, you can select from the menu " Only important updates " and hide most of the posts posted by him.
From now on, every time you add a new friend by sending the friend request, you can, before he accepts it, immediately select the list in which to include it.
For those who don't use Facebook for fear of privacy and for those who ask " how does a guy see what I write while I don't see what he writes"> The lists of friends are the answer.
